KVC Missouri’s Empowering Youth Transition Program supports Springfield youth ages 16–21 who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Youth receive help building life skills and accessing education, employment and mental and physical health services, all in a safe and supportive environment at no cost.

“Shelby, on our Child Placing Team, recently displayed compassion, empathy and commitment during a situation with a family in need of respite. Shelby met with the family and respite providers to provide support, reassurance and stability during the transition. Her willingness to step in exemplifies what it means to lead with empathy at KVC. She put herself in the family’s shoes and asked, 'What would I want for my own child?' Her actions showed authenticity, compassion, collaboration and a deep understanding of how much her work matters.”

Great teams deserve to be celebrated! 🎉

Our Southwest Missouri staff recently came together for a Staff Appreciation Event filled with games, food trucks, cotton candy and exciting door prizes. The event was designed to encourage employee wellness, self-care and connection among team members, with door prizes provided by the Southwest Wellbeing Committee to support those efforts.

One employee shared that the event "felt like a family picnic," and many others said they had a great time. We're grateful for everyone across our Southwest region who helped make the day such a success and for the incredible staff who make KVC Missouri a special place to work. 💚
