On this Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice calls us to live with purpose and integrity, reflecting the highest ideals of our beloved fraternity.

As members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., we are especially mindful that Omega Men have answered the call to duty in every era of our nation’s history - serving with distinction across all branches of the armed forces.

Today, we honor not only their bravery, but also the enduring sacrifices of their families, whose strength and support have sustained generations of service.

We reaffirm our commitment to Manhood, walking with honor and responsibility; to Scholarship, pursuing knowledge and wisdom; to Perseverance, standing resilient in the face of adversity; and to Uplift, serving and strengthening our communities and the nation.

Guided by our cardinal principals, we recommit ourselves to living in a manner worthy of their sacrifice - leading with character, pursuing knowledge, standing resilient in adversity, and lifting up our communities. Let’s keep their sacrifice and duty to our nation alive in our daily walk.

Let this day of remembrance inspire us to honor the fallen through action, service, and unwavering dedication to the ideals we share.

Please pause for a moment of silence in remembrance of their ultimate sacrifice; say a prayer for their loved ones left behind to help ease their pain; and honor the fallen not only in remembrance, but through action - living out our principles each day and striving to be worthy of their sacrifice.

Happy Charter Day Omicron Rho Chapter!

Early 1964, several Brothers of Omega Psi Phi in Flint were informed that there were several Omega Men in the Flint area by “word of mouth” and by coming into contact with each other through their employment.

Dr. Warren Southall, Dr. Robert E. Willis, Dr. Samuel Dismond and Dr. Roy Diggs, all physicians, were in contact at the local hospitals. Dr. Calvin U. Price, another local physician, had attended Wayne State University with Diggs and Willis were members of Wayne State Chapter of Omega. Herman Marable and Charles H. Smith, Registered Medical Technologist at McLaren General Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital respectively, knew some of the Omegas who were practicing physicians at those hospitals.

Price was acquainted with a local Architect, Brother Quentin Garland. Price and Wilson, both local physicians, were acquainted with two physicians from Saginaw, Michigan, Dr. John E. Carter and Dr. William Terry.

Brother John G. Robertson, who had worked as a Substitute Teacher, “Insurance Agent”, and an “Inhalation Therapist”, was acquainted with many of the local Omega physicians, and Brother Malcolm Corrin, who was the Insurance Representative for Great Lakes Insurance Company. Robertson also knew Brothers Tyree Walter and Brother Aaron Smith who were employment with the Flint school system.

Brother Southall took the initiative to write to the Omega headquarters for information to be a chapter organized, since it was obvious that we had more than the required number of men to form a Chapter.

Our first meeting was held March 28, 1964 at Dr. Southall’s office. Brother Malcolm Corrin acted as Chairman of the meeting. Ten Brothers were presented and decided to continue trying to get our chapter. Brothers in attendance were Roy Diggs, Warren E. Southall, John G. Robertson, Robert Willis, Calvin U. Price, Charles Smith, Malcon Corrin, Quentin Garland, Clarence Wilson and Herman Marable.

At this first meeting, the following officers were elected:
Basileus Warren E. Southall
Vice Basileus Calvin U. Price
KRS John G. Robertson
KF Robert E. Willis
Chaplin Quentin Garland
