Theatre Kalamazoo’s next Professional Development workshop is being led by NYC director and actor Leonard Sullivan. Leonard has run auditions professionally for over 25 years and currently serves as Associate Director of The Book of Mormon. This workshop focuses on acting through song and insider insight into the audition process. ⭐️

A new professional development workshop!

Binder Safety in Theatre — a workshop for anyone involved in theatre, professionally or recreationally.

Led by Ian Whistler, this session covers the fundamentals of binding in a theatrical context: how to bind safely, how to source or build your own binder, how to identify when someone may be in distress, and how to approach conversations depending on your role in a production.

Whether you’re a director, designer, actor, or stage manager, this workshop gives you practical tools and information to support the people you work with.

FREE Professional Development Workshop NOVEMBER 1st!

Join Theatre Kalamazoo for a workshop exploring lighting design that examines techniques to support inclusive stage design. Guest artist Sulaiman As-Salaam (they/them) will guide participants through ways to ensure every performer shines on stage.

About the Artist:
Sulaiman As-Salaam is a rising lighting designer from Atlanta, GA. Their work has been seen across the Southern United States, including productions such as Steel Magnolias (CFRT ’25), Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (Springer Opera House ’25), and The Preacher’s Wife (Assoc. – Alliance Theatre ’24). They are the Lighting Designer for WMU's upcoming production of The House That Will Not Stand.
