Parades In Kona

Parades In Kona The Kailua Village Parade Committee is a volunteer group building community through parades. Parades are for everyone! Sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Kona.

We encourage everyone to participate as a volunteer, donor, participant and or spectator. Enjoy one of the best parades in town. Our Annual Independence Day parade is on 4th of July and is concluded with a fantastic fireworks show over the Kailua Kona Bay area. Our Annual Christmas parade is enjoyed by thousands and includes a visit by Santa himself every 2nd Saturday in December.

A Kailua Village Christmas Parade Mahalo!

If we must say so ourselves what a spectacular Christmas Parade! 62 entries, unbelievable floats, snow, lots of holiday cheer and even a goat too. If you weren’t there you missed something very special. Mahalo Kona!

The all-volunteer Kailua Village Christmas Parade Committee would like to extend holiday wishes and a special mahalo to those that helped to make this year's Christmas Parade a reality

Mahalo to our sponsors including EM Rivera and the Kailua Village Business Improvement District. Thank you to the County of Hawaii including Neil Azevedo, Winnie Cabral, Dale Gomes, Barbara Kossow, Victor McDaniel and “Nish” Nishimura. The Hawaii County Police Department efforts led by Captain Calvin Delaries and Parade Liaison Sgt. Wyatt Nahale and the entire Community Police Division controlled traffic and kept us all safe. Makana Manasis, Misti and Kaleo Padilla with OSP Agency provided roving first aid and water for the well-being of participants and volunteers.

The Big Island Junior Vaa youth paddlers rallied and set up traffic cones and barricades prior to the start. They picked them up too when the parade was finished. Needless to say, they were a giant help!

Thank you to the Grand Marshalls—Barbara Kossow and Renee Kraft. Thank you for organizing the previous 100+ parades over the past 20 years.

We would be remiss if we didn’t thank the parade announcers Chris Blunt, Leinaala Fruean, Eddie Hayward, Eleina Hayward, Kauhane Heloca, Kehaulani Keanaaina, Pelena Keeling, Lyman Medeiros, Manu Powers, Nicole Vinson, Kaitlin Seja and Ipo Tavares and registration volunteers Erik Clement, Zach and Jarin Houchin, Rich and Laura Reed and Joann Endo Taffee.

Mahalo to Nic Kaawa and the Block by Block crew for the fabulous clean up efforts during and after the parade.

And lastly, mahalo to Santa (Kalei Toafili) and Mrs. Claus (Amy Toafili) and the various elves in the parade committee’s canoe float including Audrey Coleman, Scarlett Coleman, Grace Fuga, Jace Gomes, Merrick Nishimoto, and Eliana Swanson.

Mark your calendars. See you next year at the Kailua Village Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 12, 2026!

Merry, Merry, Merry,
Kailua Village Christmas Parade Committee
Laura Aquino, Jane Clement, Kehau Gomes, Nahua Guilloz, Jacque Hoover, Merrrick Nishimoto, Greg Ogin, Nancy Sakamoto, Amy Toafili, Ross Wilson Jr.
