Since 2018, Dress a Girl West Hawai‘i has sent more than 20,000 dresses across the world.

We are honoured to be a helping hand during this healing time for Maui after the fires. Hawaii Life Reality graciously volunteered to purchase plane tickets and carry the dresses to Maui. 780 delivered so far and more to go, We are coordinating with relief worker who are distributing the dresses where they are needed. Even though many homes were not touched by the fires the area they are located in has been declared “toxic” and the families have been evacuated leaving much behind. Thank you to our ladies in Kona, Waikaloa and Waimea for making the dresses for such a time as this. Thank you, Hawaii Life Reality for stepping up to deliver the dresses.

A bunch of little girls around the world are going to be happy with these dresses. They will be going out with mission groups and Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes. We partner with OCC each year. So, if you want to fill a shoebox let me know. We have the shoeboxes as well. If you want to be a part of this project let me know.

Great ladies giving of their time and heart! Sewing weekly at Livingstones Church on Ali’i Drive in Kona. Tuesdays 1-4 pm. We also have a group sewing in Waikaloa. Everything is provided. All you need is a machine and desire to make a little smile. If you don’t have a machine we have loaners. Come join us. You can join us or a Dress a Girl group near you. You can sew the dresses from anywhere in the USA. We are the Hawaii chapter of this national organization. Message me for more info.

Dress A Girl West Hawaii is a chapter of Dress A Girl Around the World , a national organization. Our belief is that every girl, ages 2-14, should have at least one new dress in their life. Our goal is to make and provide these free dresses to be sent with missionaries and groups or individuals who are working with impoverished children around the world. In addition, we are trying to stop human trafficking of these children. When a girl is wearing a bright new dress, The thought is that they must be well taken care of and not just a street urchin, so someone must be watching them. It is our hope that this will deter human traffickers. We also partner with Operation Christmas Child Shoebox ministry to provide dresses for the shoeboxes. In addition to the dresses, we also make and provide little boy’s shorts along with the dresses.

We have 20 plus ladies who are volunteering to making the dresses and shorts. Each year we send out thousands of dresses and shorts. We have sent as many as 10,000 in one year. We are a non-profit licensed organization. Our supplies are purchased with funding from grants and donations.
