Feeling famished? On our farm tours you’ll get EXCLUSIVE access to the best seafood in town - seaweed!

Seaweed is both a superfood AND super sustainable. In fact, algae is the largest producer of oxygen on planet Earth! Unlike our seahorses, us workers at Ocean Rider love to eat our vegetables!!

SOUND ON! Seahorse feeding frenzy!! These are our American Seahorses feeding on frozen mysis shrimp! Seahorses are suction feeders and slurp these shrimp right out of the water column. The clicking sound produced when they feed comes from the sliding mechanism of their jaws. The rear edge of their skull slides against the coronet, which is the star-shaped bony crest located on the top of their heads. This acts as a trigger, allowing the seahorse to forcefully inhale its prey. Seahorses also make this clicking sound during courtship as well as when they are stressed. These animals truly are amazing!!! Come on down to Ocean Rider and explore more of the wonders of the seahorse!!

Meet another one of our biologists! This is Cassie, and she's one of the newest employees here on the farm. She has a degree in Marine Biology from Rutgers University in New Jersey. When not on the farm, you can find her underwater freediving and scuba diving or strumming a tune on her ukulele. Cassie is very passionate about conservation science and encourages those around her to do their part in saving the planet.
