FAA is so proud of our Marching Band Titans as they performed through the streets of downtown Savannah on St. Patrick's day on Tuesday March 17th, 2026! They represented Northview HS and the city of Johns Creek with talent and precision, and were greeted in return with enthusiasm and cheer from the spectators of the parade!
Marching in a parade is an exhausting yet exhilarating experience. The fact that this post is a day late is testament to how tiring the two hour long parade was, for us parent chaperones, lol!
FAA would like to thank Northview band director Mrs. Dickerson, and staff Mr. Rippy, Mr. Paul and Ms. Nelms for making this trip so much fun for the students! This is what high school memories are made of. ❤️

FAA would like to spotlight Northview HS Junior Nile Solomon who has been accepted into the National Youth Orchestra (NYO2). Hear what Nile has to say about this incredible achievement:
I am extremely thankful and honored that I will be able to play among some of the most talented youth musicians in the country and am beyond amazed at the fact that I can call myself one of them. I hope to represent Northview High School and the state of Georgia as a whole as best I can and would like to thank everyone who helped me get this far. The ability to participate in orchestra programs such as NYO2 and the ability to meet new people that share the same love of music that I do is what motivates me to keep playing the cello. They have taught me invaluable skills such as performance and ensemble playing that I have been able to apply to my practicing to become a better musician overall. My word of advice is to apply to orchestras, even if you aren't fully confident that you'll make it in, just for the experience of auditioning and the exposure to other musicians it brings.

Thank you Mr. Woolstenhulme for letting FAA spotlight Nile!

FAA is thrilled to hear that Northview's Band Director Mrs. Dickerson has been chosen Teacher of the year! Apart from everything that was highlighted in the Titan newsletter about Mrs. D, FAA volunteers would like to add that Mrs. D goes above and beyond to help us, whatever the need may be. We see her energy at the stadium with the marching band students. Mrs. D always remembers to acknowledge our volunteer efforts. The students had a common comment - that she cares for all her students and motivates them in a fun way to do better. One of the things Mrs. D mentioned that stayed with us (as parents) was her hope that her students will inspire the next generation to join band because they had a good teacher that left a lasting impression. The recognition honors not only what she teaches, but her resilient leadership to ensure that students reach their potential and become their best!

FAA would also like to congratulate Northview's Professional of the Year Ms. Zeman! What you will not read in the Titan newsletter is the countless times Ms. Zeman has helped FAA with big and small requests. Volunteers don't ever do their job for the recognition, but her kind words have always made us feel appreciated. Northview is lucky to have a caring staff as Ms. Zeman.

This past Thursday, Northview HS Cecilian Singers performed at the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) Conference in Athens, GA! Out of twenty eight high schools that submitted recordings, this group is one of only two treble (SSA) choirs selected for this honor.

Congratulations Cecilian Singers and thank you for representing Northview with Excellence!

10th grader Northview Orchestra student Ryan L. participated in the 2025 MTNA Piano Senior Division competition. The purpose of the Music Teachers National Association Performance competitions is to provide educational experiences for students and teachers and to recognize exceptionally talented young artists and their teachers in their pursuit of musical excellence.

Hear what Ryan has to say about his experience and his motivation:

"Winning the GMTA (Georgia Music Teachers Association) competition and the ASYO (Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra) audition as a pianist helped me prepare tremendously for the tough MTNA competition. The 2025 MTNA Piano Senior Division competition was not easy at all. Previously, I was 1 of 7 national finalists for the Junior Division 2 years ago. That wasn’t too difficult, in my opinion; however, this year’s Senior Division was a bit tougher because I was competing in the 9th – 12th grade Senior Division category as a 10th grader. I give all the credit to my piano teacher and my mother for supporting me with endless hours of helping me hone my piano skills. Working on new and difficult pieces always motivates me to tackle the challenges and overcome them as I put in my effort. I know this work ethic will prepare me for success in the future no matter which area I go into. Preparation for the Sonata and Romantics competitions (which I won both) helped as well. I feel that I “peaked” at the right time for the competitions. I am also currently through the first round of the Governor’s Honors Program as well. Hopefully, I can continue the momentum and cap off by winning the MTNA Nationals and being selected as the GHP finalist!"

If you would like to spotlight a student from Art, Band, Chorus, Drama or Orchestra, reach out to their respective teacher.
