Hello Pack 1143 Families,
Welcome back to the Pack!
It’s hard to believe summer is over, school starts in just a few days, and that our first Pack meeting is coming up on 08/16 at 6:30 pm in the Findley Oaks Cafeteria!
The upcoming 2021-2022 scouting year is going to be filled with many fun activities and adventures for our scouts on their rank journey. The schedule for the year includes an overnight at the Atlanta Zoo, spring and fall campouts, the annual Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold Banquet, Raingutter Regatta and all the fun adventures that happen at the den meetings. Again, we have incredible volunteer leadership at all levels in the Pack including a great group of experienced Den Leaders at each rank.
***ANNUAL REGISTRATION FOR 2021-2022***
Our annual registration fee is $150. This helps cover the BSA Registration Fee, Adventure awards, Handbook/Neckerchief/Slide, Pack 1143 T-shirts, Blue & Gold Banquet, Spooky-Ree Fall camping, and the Big Trip this year to the Atlanta Zoo!
Registration fees are being collected now through 8/19. Please note that returning scouts do NOT need to submit a Registration Form. If payment has been made, your Den Leader will provide you with the handbook, neckerchief, and slide at the August 16th Pack meeting.
There are several different options to pay the annual registration fee of $150 per scout:
-Submit payment to our PayPal link https://www.paypal.me/CubScoutPack1143 *Please make sure to type in the amount $150 per scout.
-Write a check payable to "Pack 1143" and submit to your Den Leader or bring to the Pack meeting on 8/16.
-Provide cash to your Den Leader or bring to the Pack meeting on 8/16.
***Upcoming Events***
Attached you will find the Pack calendar for the upcoming school year. Pack meetings and activities are marked in yellow. We have also included the dates for Den meetings on the calendar this year (marked in blue), so you will have all Scouting dates in one place. Your den leader will let you know the time and place of your den’s meetings.
I know all our scouts are excited about another year sharing this journey with their friends and we look forward to the Pack 1143 family getting together in the coming months. Please let myself or any leader know if you have any questions at all as we are here to make this the best scouting experience possible!
***Leadership Opportunities***
We are so fortunate to have a wonderful group of dedicated parents in this pack, and a passionate leadership team! I encourage everyone to explore taking on a leadership role in our Pack as it is very rewarding putting on this program for our children. We only have a certain amount of time with our Scouts during elementary school and Scouting is a great chance for you to spend time with them covering the scouting material that has been around for 100+ years. If you're interested in any of the following roles, please let me know!
As we look ahead to next year, we would like to fill the positions described below. Enlisting leaders to focus on each of these areas will greatly promote our ability to provide an excellent scouting experience, and will ensure a bright future for the pack. Volunteering with this leadership group is a lot of fun, and we welcome you to consider any of these roles! You will receive the support you need to get started. It takes a village, and we need YOU!
Event Coordinator
· Under the direction of the Program Chair, lead one of the following events: Raingutter Regatta (September 2021), Blue and Gold banquet (February 2022), or the Pack 1143 service project (spring 2022). Warren Sutherland will lead the Pinewood Derby.
· Assemble a team to help with the event including decorations, food, activities, and communications as needed. Individual commitments will depend on how many helping hands we have!
