Behind every child returning to school after cancer treatment is a team of people helping them take that next step forward. π
Research shows that childhood cancer survivors are more likely to repeat a grade than their siblings, highlighting the real academic and social challenges many students face during and after treatment.
While doctors and nurses care for children in the hospital, teachers often become a source of stability in the classroom. They help students catch up on missed work, adjust expectations when needed, rebuild confidence, and feel connected to their peers again. These actions may seem small, but for a child navigating cancer, they can make an incredible difference.
Today, we're grateful for the educators who create welcoming classrooms, lead with compassion, and remind students that they are more than their diagnosis. Thank you for helping children not only continue their education, but also rediscover a sense of belonging, normalcy, and hope. β¨
