On today’s episode of “Who’s Going to the Vet This Week”, we have a longgg list of pups, which is going to skyrocket our bill at Port Salerno Animal Hospital to WELL over $2,000 (and I even paid some of it down last week!)😅

Biggie went to PSAH yesterday for an exam and x-rays of his chest which confirmed Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) with an enlarged heart, and fluid in his lungs. We are treating with a diuretic and heart meds and will reevaluate next Friday if he will respond to treatment.

All 8 Cur/Beagle puppies will be getting their first round of shots this week. Some will be going to PSAH and the rest will be going to a vaccine clinic in FP.

Cesar, who we pulled from PBCACC, is going to PSAH tomorrow. He started showing symptoms of an Upper Respiratory Infection (URI), which he will likely need meds for. He is also getting his fractures evaluated by the Dr to advise on next steps.

Rose goes to PSAH today for a recheck on her skin and a checkup regarding her URI. She has done 2 rounds of antibiotics, but I will say, her skin is healing beautifully!

Clover is getting a f***l sample done at PSAH and will likely need dewormer specifically to treat tapeworms. She also gets her first injection for heartworm treatment this month, which will be very expensive also!

Buck goes to PSAH today for his last round of booster shots, and his sister, Hazel, got spayed and vaccinated yesterday at Peggy Adams for $277.

Lily wants a family to call her own. She is 4 years old, about 50lbs, housebroken, crate-trained and oh-so sweet! She loves her people very much, she just has to be the only pet.

She loves snacking on fruit, jumping in her splash pad, playing with her toys, and taking naps on the couch. 💗

Ridge & Coal are about to turn 7-weeks-old! We rescued these boys at just 2 DAYS OLD after they were brought into OCAS orphaned. After weeks of bottle feeding, very little sleep, and watching them grow from tiny little potatoes into actual puppies, it’s officially time to start looking for their furever homes!

And yes, they are 10/10 on the cute scale… but their DNA results are exactly why we are going to be very specific about their homes.

🧬 49% German Shepherd
🧬 47% Border Collie
🧬 2% Australian Shepherd
🧬 2% Saarloos Wolfdog

These are working breed puppies. They are going to be smart, active dogs who need BOTH physical and mental stimulation. An active lifestyle and breed experience are required. We would also really prefer homes with another dog and a fenced-in yard.

We will be conducting interviews, home checks, and vet references for all applicants. These boys are adorable little babies right now, but we have to make decisions based on the dogs they are going to grow into, not just how cute they are at 7 weeks. We want to make sure we set them up for the absolute best chance at happy, successful, and fulfilled lives.

This is Biggie. Biggie was found walking the streets of Boynton Beach by some Good Samaritans. They took him to the vet where they found a Grade IV heart murmur, an infection, and a slew of other medical issues. He was also underweight and his vision is not the best. They said that he is about 13 years old.

Long story short (not really… it’s still a long story) the 2 numbers registered to the chip were no longer in service. HomeAgain did alert someone because she contacted us saying Biggie was now her Aunt’s dog. 24 hours came and went and the Aunt never contacted us. We had to message the contact 3 times to get her to have the Aunt reach out. Turns out, he had gone missing 3 weeks prior. There wasn’t even a lost dog report with the county.

They surrendered him to us the next day, and now he’s with me. We will be taking him to the vet this week to see what else we can do for his heart. He has a cough and it makes me sad that he was lost at this age, in this condition, with nobody looking for him. I’m not sure when dogs became so disposable…

Anyway, we are actively fundraising for his vetting and will keep everyone updated on him🩶

Today we welcomed 8 Cur/Beagle mixes that have been trying to find rescue for the last week with no luck. They turn 8 weeks old on Tuesday and are already doing well settling into their amazing foster homes!💛

They are being dewormed and will all get to the vet this week for an exam and their first round of shots. One of them has an umbilical hernia, which we will get repaired during her spay.

While the family would not surrender mom, they are allowing us to get her spayed and UTD on shots. She will be scheduled once medically cleared for surgery.

They will be available to go to foster-to-adopt once they complete their quarantine period and get their first round of vaccines!

Puppies are expensive! That’s 8 rounds of shots x3, 8 rounds of dewormer, 8 (at least) preventatives, and 8 (technically 9 with mama) spays and neuters!
