On we'd like to share this:
A Construction Worker’s Su***de Highlights a Wider Crisis
A recent New York Times article highlights an often-overlooked reality: construction workers face one of the highest su***de rates of any profession in the United States. Long hours, physical risk, financial pressure, and a culture that can discourage talking about mental health all play a role in a crisis that too often goes unseen.
Conversations like this matter. Awareness helps reduce stigma — and stigma is one of the biggest barriers to people seeking help.
We encourage you to read and share this important story:

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is available. You are not alone.📞 Call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

🧡 Recent Report Highlights Urgent Su***de Trends in Louisville/Jefferson County, KY 🧡

A recent Su***de Fatality Report from Louisville Metro Public Health shows heartbreaking trends that underscore how critical su***de prevention work is in our community. This data reminds us that su***de affects individuals, families, and entire neighborhoods — and it’s something we all must confront together.

📌 Key local findings from 2020–2023:

• There has been a significant increase in su***de deaths among men in Louisville, with men accounting for nearly 80% of deaths in recent years.

• Over half of all su***de deaths involved a firearm, highlighting the importance of safe storage and reducing access to lethal means for those in crisis.

• Su***de deaths among Black individuals increased by more than 100%, and deaths among Hispanic/Latino individuals more than doubled — showing growing racial and ethnic disparities that we must address.

Louisville Metro Government is actively collaborating with community partners to better understand these trends and work toward prevention and support for all affected.

We know that su***de is preventable, and community awareness, connection, and shared action are powerful tools in stopping loss before it happens.

🧡 If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. It is available 24/7, free and confidential.

It’s an important reminder that su***de prevention saves lives when we learn, share, and act together.

This article highlights how asking the right questions, showing up for one another, and increasing awareness can truly make a difference. Talking about su***de isn’t easy, but it is one of the most important conversations we can have.

https://www.courier-journal.com/story/opinion/contributors/2025/05/02/su***de-prevention-mental-health-awareness-uk/83384446007/

Su***de doesn’t only affect the person who is struggling — it impacts families, friends, coworkers, and entire communities. By learning the warning signs, reaching out with compassion, and helping connect people to support, each of us has the power to help prevent loss. ❤️

📊 In Kentucky, su***de is the second leading cause of death for individuals aged 10–34.

Awareness, education, and connection matter — especially for our young people.
Let’s honor those we’ve lost by strengthening our community through compassion, education, and care for one another. Sometimes, simply asking “Are you OK?” can change — or save — a life.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. It is available 24/7, free and confidential.
