National POW/MIA Recognition Day in 2026 is observed on Friday, September 18, 2026, as proclaimed by the The White House.Overview of the DayDate: Friday, September 18, 2026 (always the third Friday of September).Purpose: Honors Americans who were prisoners of war (POWs) or remain missing in action (MIA) from all conflicts.Significance: More than 81,000 Americans remain unaccounted for from past conflicts including WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf Wars.
