Memorial Day Flags at Joseph P Bittner VFW Post 1832. Auxiliary sold flags to put on the lawn. The funds collected will go to Wreaths Across America. Thank you everyone that participated.

Armed Forces Day 2026 was celebrated on Saturday, May 16. Established in 1962, this annual holiday occurs on the third Saturday of May to specifically honor the men and women actively serving across all six branches of the United States military.How it is observed:Active-Duty Focus: Unlike Memorial Day (which honors those who have died) or Veterans Day (which celebrates all former service members), Armed Forces Day is dedicated solely to the roughly 1.34 million active-duty personnel currently serving in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Space Force.Military Discounts & Freebies: Many nationwide chains and local establishments offer promotions. For instance, active-duty service members and veterans can often participate in Mission BBQ Armed Forces Week celebrations for special giveaways and meals.Sports & Community Parades: Major League Baseball (MLB) players, coaches, and managers wear specialized service-inspired caps and camouflage socks throughout the weekend to raise funds for military charities like the USO and Wounded Warrior Project. Many local municipalities also host dedicated parades and exhibit events.
