A silent auction to benefit the Special Learning Center of Jefferson City is now live and it will be going on until after Easter. Several paintings by Joel Bartow are available along with other interesting stuff! The Jefferson City Cosmopolitan Club is sponsoring this activity. Please check it out.

Jefferson City Cosmos is pleased to announce the Ruth Bartow Memorial Scholarship.
The club will award two $1,000 scholarships to help offset first year expenses at the recipient’s college or vocational school of choice. These scholarships are one time awards—they are not renewable and do not require repayment.
Eligibility:
• Applicants must be high school seniors attending a Cole County high school.
• Not have previously attended an institution of higher learning.
• Be in actual need of financial assistance to continue education.
• Not be the child, grandchild, niece, nephew, grandniece, or grandnephew of any past or current Cosmopolitan member.
How to Apply:
Application forms are available through high school counselors. You may also request a copy by sending a direct message to this Facebook account with the email address where the application should be sent. Applications must be postmarked by May 1, 2026.

On Friday, we had the distinct honor of having author Marilyn Kay attend our meeting along with her daughter, a graduate of Special Learning Center
Julia. Her book is called “Lord, Will You Do It?” It’s a story of a mother’s journey to heal her daughter and herself. Scan the QR to get your copy!

The JC Cosmopolitan Club was proud to deliver diabetes-friendly snacks and supplies to Lewis and Clark Middle School, St. Peter Catholic School, Immaculate Conception Catholic School and Blair Oaks. Making sure students with Type 1 diabetes have what they need to stay safe, focused, and healthy during the school day.
That is what being a Cosmo is about! Neighbors coming together to support kids in our community!

Type 1 diabetes can happen at any age, but many diagnoses occur in kids between ages 4-7 and 10-14. Symptoms like extreme thirst, frequent urination, weight loss, or unusual tiredness can come on quickly. Knowing the signs is important and early diagnosis can be lifesaving.

Alongside asthma, Type 1 diabetes is one of the most common chronic conditions affecting children today. It's a lifelong condition that requires constant attention to blood sugar, meals, exercise and medication. But with strong community support, new technology, and research breakthroughs, we can make living with T1D a little easier for kids and their families. It's our club's #1 goal. The earlier diabetes is diagnosed, the better. When blood sugar is carefully managed, kids (and adults) with diabetes can prevent or delay serious complications like vision loss, kidney disease, and nerve damage. Knowledge really is power and that is why our club works hard to support the children and families fighting diabetes in our community. Become a member today and join in the fight!

Jane Holtsman has been a proud member of the Jefferson City Cosmopolitan Club since 1997 and she's worn many hats over the years, including club President, Secretary, Golf Tournament Chair, Newsletter Editor, and even Mo-Kan Governor! Her reason for joining was deeply personal: "I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 11, and my dad also had T1D, so I knew this was the service club for me!"

"My favorite part of being a Cosmo is the wonderful friendships I have formed," Jane says. "I am proud when our small group of members can pull together for successful fundraisers and projects."
