Jefferson City Cosmopolitan Club Ruth Bartow Memorial Scholarship Winners!

The Jefferson City Cosmopolitan Club is pleased to announce the names of the two local high school graduates who are winners of Ruth Bartow Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $1,000 scholarship to their college of choice. Ruth Bartow was a teacher at Saint Peter Grade School, who obtained her Bachelor of Education degree from Lincoln University. Congratulations to both winners!

Ruth Cassmeyer, the daughter of Shannon and Rebecca Cassmeyer. Ruth graduated Summa Cum Laude from Helias Catholic High School. While a student, she received American Legion award and several other service awards. Ruth was a member of the women’s discipleship group, mission activities, and manager for the Helias football team all four years, and wants to become a Catholic school teacher in Missouri. She will attend the University of Central Missouri to major in Early Childhood Education.

Emily Roling, the daughter of Joe and Janet Roling, graduated from Helias Catholic High School with a 4.1 GPA and completed the Nichols Career Center Patient Care Technician Program to earn PCT certification. While in high school, Emily was a member of National Honor Society, Campus Ministry, Student Council, Zonta Club, Student Ambassadors, and the Helias Catholic Girls Tennis Team. She also was recognized as the Helias Catholic Student of the Month in November of 2025 and the Zonta Student of the Month in February of 2026. Emily plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Lincoln University and go on to obtain a Master of Science in Nursing to become a Nurse Practitioner.

A silent auction to benefit the Special Learning Center of Jefferson City is now live and it will be going on until after Easter. Several paintings by Joel Bartow are available along with other interesting stuff! The Jefferson City Cosmopolitan Club is sponsoring this activity. Please check it out.

Jefferson City Cosmos is pleased to announce the Ruth Bartow Memorial Scholarship.
The club will award two $1,000 scholarships to help offset first year expenses at the recipient’s college or vocational school of choice. These scholarships are one time awards—they are not renewable and do not require repayment.
Eligibility:
• Applicants must be high school seniors attending a Cole County high school.
• Not have previously attended an institution of higher learning.
• Be in actual need of financial assistance to continue education.
• Not be the child, grandchild, niece, nephew, grandniece, or grandnephew of any past or current Cosmopolitan member.
How to Apply:
Application forms are available through high school counselors. You may also request a copy by sending a direct message to this Facebook account with the email address where the application should be sent. Applications must be postmarked by May 1, 2026.

On Friday, we had the distinct honor of having author Marilyn Kay attend our meeting along with her daughter, a graduate of Special Learning Center
Julia. Her book is called “Lord, Will You Do It?” It’s a story of a mother’s journey to heal her daughter and herself. Scan the QR to get your copy!

The JC Cosmopolitan Club was proud to deliver diabetes-friendly snacks and supplies to Lewis and Clark Middle School, St. Peter Catholic School, Immaculate Conception Catholic School and Blair Oaks. Making sure students with Type 1 diabetes have what they need to stay safe, focused, and healthy during the school day.
That is what being a Cosmo is about! Neighbors coming together to support kids in our community!

Tom Henke and the JC Cosmos were thrilled to present a donation to the Special Learning Center for $45,700! Proceeds from our 31st Annual Tom Henke Charity Classic golf tournament.
