Day 5 — The Person Is Still In There
Addiction can make someone behave in ways that don’t look anything like the person their family remembers.
Dishonesty.
Manipulation.
Broken promises.
Isolation.
Anger.
Choices that hurt the people who love them.
Those behaviors have consequences—and recovery requires accountability for them.
But we believe something fiercely at Hope for Women:
The woman is still in there.
She is more than the worst thing she has ever done.
Recovery isn’t pretending the past didn’t happen.
It’s becoming someone who doesn’t have to live that way anymore.
We have watched women become trustworthy again.
Dependable again.
Joyful again.
Present again.
We’ve watched daughters come back.
Mothers come back.
Friends come back.
We’ve watched women come back to themselves.
That’s why we believe in recovery. 🦋
