Yesterday I talked to Ice Age Trail Alliance - Rock County Chapter through hiker Richard ( from out west) as he was coming trough Milton. He stared the trail July 22 and this is his 5th trail he had done. His next big stop would be Delafield so he was stocking up on supplies from the dollar store and piggy wiggly ( which are both just off the trail). I suggested he stop into the library to fill up those water bottles and the Milton House Museum for a brief rest best hitting the Storrs lake trail. He said trail markings were great in Rock County but he had gotten a little wet. Hoping for some better weather as he continues his hike. Good Luck Richard and thanks for visiting Wisconsin .

Heads up! The Ice Age Trail Alliance headquarters (Cross Plains, Wis.) will be closed on September 2, 2026 for building maintenance. We’ll be back and open our usual hours (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) on Thursday, September 3. Thanks for understanding!

There was a great question ask in another IAT page that we thought you might like to see here? Are there seed collection days along the IAT? Did you know there are many days you can collect seeds along the IAT!! There are so many seed collecting events —weekly in wednesdays and more. Go to the Event Calendar on the Alliance website—and then search “seed collecting”! Lots will show up.

📣 TRAIL CLOSURE NOTICE 📣

The Balanced Rock Trail will be closed Monday-Friday, May 4-8, 2026 during daytime hours (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) for repair work to a section of stone steps.

All other trails in the park will remain open.
