101 Reasons We Love Our New Farm
#58 — The Dobby & Itty Bitty Room
As many of you know, Dobby and Itty Bitty have always come inside at night.
Not the barn. Not a shed. The farmhouse. 😆
Being wheelchair goats, they couldn’t safely stay outside with no way to defend themselves, so every evening they got VIP accommodations.
Back in Georgia, that meant rubber mats, indoor/outdoor rugs, and what felt like 47 layers of puppy pads. Every single day I was washing load after load after load. Between the laundry, the puppy pads, and the amount of Tide I was using, I probably should have bought stock in the company.
The dryer gave up about three months before the move and we had to buy a new one. Then the washer sounded like it was preparing for takeoff. I prayed it would survive long enough to get us to Kentucky, and thankfully it did!
Then we found this farm.
One of the rooms (right off the house, connected by the breezeway) has a concrete floor, and thanks to an anonymous supporter who purchased foam tiles from our wish list and an old indoor/outdoor rug I had tucked away, Dobby and Itty Bitty now have a room of their very own.
Instead of three loads of laundry a day, I’m down to just one. Cleanup is easier. The goats are comfortable and roll right in to their bedroom at the end of the day, and my new washing machine will not be used on an industrial grade level!!
In fact, when the Cowboy first looked at this farm, one of the first things he said was:
“It has an Itty Bitty and Dobby room!”
And honestly? He wasn’t wrong. ❤️🐐
It’s one of those things most people would never notice when looking at a farm. But for us, it was perfect.
Just one more reason we love our new farm.
