Our 4th Annual Barks & Booze Fundraiser is coming up October 11, and we're looking for donations to help us create raffle baskets!🐾

You can help by donating an item, putting together a basket, or making a monetary donation toward one.

Every basket helps us raise money for local animals, shelters and spay and neuter efforts. ❤️

As this overwhelming time of surrenders, abandonment continues, "Code Red" posts from shelters seeking fosters and/or adopters appear daily! Simply solution, support spay/neuter, encourage spay/neuter and the rescues, TNR groups that are trying everyday, but can't save them all!

Trap-neuter-return (TNR) is a management technique in which community cats are humanely trapped, evaluated, spayed or neutered by a licensed veterinarian, ear-tipped to show they’ve been sterilized, vaccinated against rabies and distemper, and then returned to their original habitat. Targeted TNR (i.e., maximizing the number of cats sterilized at the colony or neighborhood level) offers several benefits over the inefficient approaches that have been used for generations, such as complaint-driven impoundment, which is often followed by lethal injection. These benefits include:

***Reduced shelter intake of cats and kittens
***Reduced shelter deaths of cats and kittens
***Stabilized and (over time) reduced community cat populations
***Reduced number of nuisance complaints

We go the distance to get donations to our rescues! Chrissy met Phoenix Humane Society of Greater Cattaraugus, Inc. in Randolph last week to give them a donation check. These funds are from our golf tourney and we are so glad to be able to share this with our rescues.

We can’t stress it enough, spay and neuter your pets. Our rescues and shelters are overwhelmed and funds are low. Food, supplies, litter, food dishes, cleaning products, toys…everything to make these animals as comfy as possible is expensive.

If you’re considering adopting, reach out to one of our local rescues and avoid breeders.

Annika also stopped at Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, Inc. last week to drop off a check! We’re thankful for all of our of our small, local rescues. They make a huge difference for our communities. They take in all the stray animals, the surrenders, the unwanted puppies that are born…rescue isn’t easy, but NCCR and others are doing everything they can to make a difference!

We say it in almost every post…spay and neuter your pets. Stop giving puppies and kittens away for free on social media. Be a responsible pet owner. If you need help to pay for the surgery, send a message to us.

Our board member, Annika made it out to Westfield Stray Cat Rescue last week to drop off a donation check. They and every other rescue are doing everything they can for the animals in need in our community.

Always spay and neuter your pets. If you see an animal suffering speak up. If you can, foster. If you can donate food and supplies to your local rescues. They depend on us to make a difference for them.
