Please help by giving and sharing!

Two moms. Two families. One opportunity to change the future. ❤️

Meet our two newest small business grant recipients— Thelma and Ana.

Thelma is 54 years old and recently lost her husband. She is now working hard to provide for her 6 children. Her family faces some unique physical challenges, and while some of her children are able to find occasional day labor jobs to help, life is not easy. They live in a simple adobe home where they only receive running water twice a week.

But Thelma has determination, and a desire to work. She has raised chickens before and is ready to begin an egg business that can provide steady income for her family.

Ana is a 45-year-old single mother to her son Carlos, who faces mental health challenges. They live in a humble home made of sheet metal and wood, but Ana’s dream is the same as every mother’s — to give her child the best life she possibly can. She also has the opportunity to start an egg business.

At DFM, we don’t just give a gift for today — we invest in a future. These women will receive training, accountability, and the tools they need to build a sustainable business.

$1,500 will fully fund BOTH of these families’ grants and give two hardworking moms the opportunity to provide for their children with dignity and hope.

Will you partner with us and help Thelma and Ana take this next step? ❤️

We give. We go. We serve. We empower. We love

Para Servir Internships:

It was sometimes beautiful, sometimes messy, and often a little chaotic 😂 — but growth usually is.

Thankful for every person who has pulled up a chair and become part of the DFM story. ❤️

Hope House Haiti update 🇭🇹

A few months ago, someone generously gave toward starting a coffee farm to help create sustainable income for Hope House Haiti.

Next month these coffee plants will be planted, but the work has already begun. The land is currently being fertilized and prepared in anticipation of the new crop.

We are thankful for donors who believe in investing in long-term solutions that empower communities and create opportunity for the future. 🇭🇹 ☕️

We are excited to officially welcome Dulce to the DFM team as our second Guatemalan staff member. 🇬🇹

Many of you may remember Dulce from the incredible work she previously did alongside us at Casa Ixoqi’. From the very beginning, we were deeply impressed by her heart, her leadership, and her passion for empowering women both economically and educationally. Her values aligned so naturally with the mission of DFM.

Because of that, we are honored to now have her serving with us in an even bigger role as administrative support and as an assistant to Leigh, our Guatemalan Director.

We believe real impact happens when local leaders are empowered, equipped, and given a seat at the table. Dulce brings wisdom, compassion, professionalism, and a deep understanding of her own community — and we are better because she is part of this team.

Welcome to the DFM family, Dulce. We are so grateful for you. 💙

Monday morning staff meetings at DFM starts with coffee, conversations, and meetings with our social worker as we discuss families, needs, business grants, and next steps. So much happens behind the scenes to make sure we serve with wisdom, dignity, and accountability. ❤️🇬🇹

Today, Genia & Leigh had the opportunity to tag along with our social worker during family and home visits for women who have applied for DFM small business grants.

These visits are one of the most important — and hardest — parts of what we do. We listen to stories of hardship, walk through difficult living conditions, and ask hard questions. Not because we want to judge… but because we want to steward these opportunities well.

We vet each application as thoroughly as possible to make sure the needs, household situations, and business plans are honest and realistic. Our goal is not simply to give money away, but to invest in women who are capable of building sustainable businesses that can truly help change the future of their families.

But the emotional side of these visits is heavy. The need is overwhelming at times, and every story matters.

This is why empowerment takes time. It takes relationship. It takes listening before acting. And it reminds us that behind every application is a real woman, a real family, and a real story. ❤️

UPDATE: FUNDED - gracias a todos!!!

LET’S GET THOMAS A BED!

While visiting Juana’s family this week, we celebrated the growth of her pig business and the impact of the bunk beds donors recently provided for her sons.

But during the visit we discovered that her 88-year-old father, Thomas, sleeps on the floor every night.

We would love to raise $250 to purchase Thomas a bed and mattress so he can rest comfortably and with dignity. ❤️

If you would like to help bless Thomas, donation info will be in the comments.

Today we spent time doing house visits with some of our small business grant recipients—always one of our favorite parts. 🤍

A highlight was visiting Juana and her family and seeing her new baby pigs! 🐖
In just a few weeks they’ll be ready to sell, and she already has buyers for all 10.

Her hard work is paying off—and today we spent rime talking about how to keep growing and reinvesting in her business.

This is what empowerment looks like. 💛
