Well hello there! Winston here - just checking in to see if I have any sew’ers (aka folks who love to sew. Seamstress sounded too formal) out there? Since I’m built like a seal, I can slide out of belly bands & Foster Mom had a video pop up that had a Chubby Chi like me who had his own wardrobe. I’ve been here quite some time & perhaps if *I* had my own wardrobe, someone would be interested in adopting me.

Several weeks back, I had someone reach out to me & ask if I could help. A Grandma had passed, leaving behind 17 dogs. 17 pups that the Grandson, who was living with her, was now taking care of. I told them I was leaving town but when I got back, if they still needed me, I would do what I can.

Upon returning, I reached out to find out if he needed anything. His response: “the dogs don't need anything immediately, they will need another dose of flea medication soon” (DONE!!) & that he “would like to discuss if it would be possible to get the two poodles hernia's looked at by a vet soon please.” Such manners & politeness 🥹

I told him I could take 4 of the 9 at the moment.

Meeting the grandson - he is one of the kindest & such a special young man in so many ways. He wishes he could keep them all but with just losing his grandma & starting a new job, he knew they needed more than he was able to give them. He told me how he loved all of the dogs & today, I could see that they too loved him, following him & staying close for the little pats he handed out frequently to each.

He brought me the poodles with the perineal hernias. And then Spider because I had a foster for him (thank you Brittany & Nick Snell 🥰). I then asked him to pick the 4th - he picked Rocky. Watching him as he brought them, one by one - holding each one so gently. Giving each one a hug & telling them he loved them. 😢

These 4 boys, although scared & unsocialized to new people, warmed up so quickly & are true love sponges.

We headed to the vet to get them checked out, vaccinated & ready for their upcoming procedures.

Introducing them to collars, along with a drag leash (to acclimate them to a leash as well as giving us something to grab instead of grabbing at them), some lovings, a bath, some extra snuggles & a quick jaunt to take Spider to get him set up with his foster family.

I’m hoping to get a couple adoptions to make some room & maybe another foster (or 5) so I can take in the remaining 5. For now, we’re making it work.

Because this special grandson needed help & these Littles did too.

🐾 FOSTERS NEEDED!

It’s raining requests & I sure could use a little help!

✴️ A Grandma passed away, leaving behind 17 Littles. Her grandson shared their story on Nextdoor, where a kindhearted lady went to adopt one and realized more help was needed. She contacted Down Home Vets and paid over $1,000 of her own money for rabies vaccines, flea prevention, nail trims & food. She’s retired and on a budget herself. What kindness! ❤️ She’s also the one who contacted me.

A few dogs have found homes, and family members are keeping several others. But these 9 Little Boys still need us! I’ve included a collage introducing each boy & the original flyer is in the comments since I couldn't get it to fit without being wonky.

They’ve lived in one home their entire lives. They’re sweet, but some are shy or unsure and may need help with housetraining, leash skills, socialization & confidence. Patience, structure and consistency will make all the difference.

🩺 Before adoption through Papillon Pals, they’ll receive remaining vaccines, heartworm tests, fecals, bloodwork, neuters & microchips. Two also have hernias that will be addressed.

‼️ FOSTERS MUST be able to drive to Julington Creek Animal Walk or Birch Island Veterinary Clinic, OR drop their Little with me in Mandarin the night before a vet appointment and pick him up afterward. (📍Jacksonville, FL)

Meet COCO

Police Officer Coco is a spayed female Papillon, 6½ years old & rocking 12 pounds (although losing another pound or two would be ideal).

Yes, she gets along with other dogs BUT if they're a little zany, crazy or out of line in her mind, she goes into control mode. Hence... Police Officer Coco. And cats—well, she's a little TOO obsessed with them, even when the kitty is trying to say "NOPE!!" so no cats for Miss Coco! Kids - older, respectful kids are ok & fun. Tiny tots - not so much.

If you were to ask Coco what SHE would like in her furever home, I think she'd tell you she'd love being your one & only. She'd also like someone active who will take her on walks AND adventures (she loves car rides!), get down on the ground & play with her, but also appreciate that she's an independent girl.

Coco likes staying close to her person, but if you're looking for a lap warmer or a pup you can hold & carry around, she's probably not your girl.

She's a beautiful combination of energetic & chill and isn't too yappy unless she has something to say. She's housetrained, crate trained (seriously, THE quietest dog ever in a crate!!), leash trained & knows sit, down & come—although that recall isn't quite as impressive if there's a lizard or squirrel involved.

You know how some dogs hack after getting a drink? WELL... Miss Coco has THE most dramatic hack ever. While getting her dental, our vet took a look & discovered she has an elongated soft palate. We've only noticed it bother her after drinking water.

Honestly, Coco is pretty dang close to the whole package. She's smart, funny, active, independent & already knows how to be a great little companion.

I have a feeling LOTS of people are going to see that beautiful Papillon face & want her. She asked us to find her an adventure buddy - someone to do life with in & outside the house - & that's exactly what we're going to do.

✨ OFFICIALLY ADOPTED — THE FREEDOM LITTER 🇺🇸

Two days before the 4th of July, we took in four Littles as part of a collaboration with FUR & Coastal to help 11 puppies.

We whimsically dubbed ours “The Freedom Litter” — Cannon because he had the loudest bark, Libby for Liberty, Dolly after First Lady Dolley Madison and, well… Chad because it was funny. 😂

LIBBY → GIDGET

A previous adopter reached out looking for a female Little who would hopefully bond with Dad since the girl they previously adopted from me preferred Mom. Off Libby went for her sleepover… and she’s been home ever since. That’s Gidget with her crew in the bottom-right. 🥰

CANNON → HOGAN

This shows why networking & sharing posts matter! Someone interested in Mr. Spock had seen his stray post and gone to the shelter to meet him before learning he was with us. They applied, but ultimately his housetraining needs didn’t make him the perfect fit. BUT they passed our info along to dear friends looking for a Little.

They fell instantly in love with Cannon. Meet & greet. Sleepover. And yep… he was HOME. Cannon is now Hogan. ❤️

CHAD → BOBO

Black dogs are notoriously overlooked, but Chad’s snuggle game was strong. 😂 A mom/daughter duo read his bio, then saw the picture of him wrapped around Foster Dad giving hugs… they were smitten.

Chad, now Bobo, was a wee bit dramatic meeting his MUCH bigger brother Bentley (top-left 😂), but by that evening? Inseparable.

DOLLY ❤️

Our little honey badger was the last to be chosen — but ohhhh, what a choice she was.

Hogan’s parents realized he needed a playmate and decided to bring his sister home too. The smiles, wiggles & happy tails when these two were reunited were sheer joy. ❤️

And there’s something sweet about how her story came full circle.

Our little American Girl, Dolly — named after First Lady Dolley Madison — was adopted the day after we lost Dolly Parton, whose butterfly symbol represented grace, freedom & transformation. And Papillon is French for butterfly. 🦋

✨Her local shelter, maxed & over-capacity like others, didn't turn her away or make the process difficult. They just *gasp* took her in & helped.

✨Clay County Animal Services veterinary staff for moving forward with her pain management & surgeries to get her on the road to recovery quickly

✨Clay County Animal Services staff for actively reaching out to rescues & being this girls voice. Your team works diligently & tirelessly to get the animals in your care treated & seen while helping the community. (They do FREE TNR's for 30 cats weekly! Talk about trying to be a solution & get in front of the animal population!!)

✨ A FOSTER who reached out & said “Hey!! I can help!!” One who is not only caring for her but also taking her to the vet & socializing her w/ new people, big & little dogs & even cats!!

✨Receiving an "incentive check" from The Jacksonville Humane Society to help encourage the shelter/rescue relationship. WOW!! What a surprise to get this! Meet GEORGE 🐾💙

George is an adorable 7-year-old, 5-pound Maltese who came to us with Brownie & our sweet Lil One 🌈 as part of a 19-dog breeder surrender.

When George arrived, we honestly thought he was 9–10 years old. He was emaciated, shaved, had horrible teeth, hookworms, poor posture & seemed completely unresponsive to voices or sounds. He constantly soiled his crate (& then danced in it 🤦‍♀️) and just seemed... lost & confused.

Then we started putting the pieces of George back together. ❤️

After deworming, vetting, a much-needed dental, high-calorie/good-quality food several times a day & LOTS of TLC, George has gained over a pound—HUGE for a dog his size.

And something pretty amazing happened...

George started showing up. ❤️

His eyes got brighter. He started standing taller, engaging with us, playing & discovering toys. And that little dog we thought couldn't hear?

We called his name... George responded.

YES!! HE CAN HEAR!! YIPPIE!! 😂❤️

Now that he's healthy & we're seeing the real George, our vet believes he's closer to 7 years old.

Like Brownie, George spent his life in a breeding/kennel environment, so his development is a little behind. He'll need help with housetraining, leash walking & learning how to live in this big wonderful world.

But watching him discover it is THE BEST.

George will take a toy or bully stick into his cozy bed, toss it around & BARK at it like a puppy. 😂 It might seriously be the most adorablest thing ever.

George doesn't need someone to spend his life feeling sorry for where he came from. He needs someone excited to show him where he's going.

With patience, consistency, love & a little fun training, I'm pretty sure he's going to become the most perfectest little George he can possibly be. ❤️
