Today, Wells Fargo presented LISC Jacksonville with a $300,000 grant to support Project Boots, our homeownership and family wealth-building initiative that helps Jacksonville residents prepare to purchase a home. The check presentation and groundbreaking ceremony took place on the lot of a future Project Boots home in the Historic Eastside neighborhood.

Following the ceremony, Wells Fargo and LISC Jacksonville leadership participated in a bus tour of Project Boots homes in the neighborhood, further demonstrating the deep impact of their investment in Jacksonville’s families.

The grant funding will support additional Project Boots cohorts, expanding access for more individuals and families. LISC Jacksonville is now recruiting for the next cohort, which begins in January 2027.

Our immense gratitude goes to Wells Fargo for this phenomenal investment in Project Boots!

Behind every family that keeps its home for the next generation, there’s a network of people helping make it happen.

This National Dessert Day, we surprised several of those partners with sweet treats to say thank you. Their support has helped us connect Jacksonville residents with estate planning help.

Jimmy Orth, the executive director of St. Johns Riverkeeper, is one of our partners who is helping shape a stronger Jacksonville through creative placekeeping. During the coming weeks, we are highlighting the people, partners, and community leaders—the Faces of LISC Jacksonville—whose work is creating lasting opportunities and positive change across our neighborhoods.

Jimmy has spent more than 22 years advocating for the St. Johns River. Along the Ribault River, St. Johns Riverkeeper and LISC Jacksonville have worked with neighbors on cleanups, park improvements, and installing an oyster reef that helped inspire Oyster Fest.

For Jimmy, protecting the river also means helping people connect with the place they call home.
