Support feels different when it comes from someone who's been there.

At Mission United, United Way's Veteran care coordination program, Veterans who reach out work directly with coordinators who have served themselves. That shared experience builds trust, stronger connections and better support for Veterans and their families.

In this video, Director of Mission United Jonathan Richmond shares why Veterans often feel more comfortable opening up to someone who understands military life firsthand.

If you or someone you know could use support navigating the complex network of Veteran services, please call 2-1-1 to be connected to Mission United. You can also go to our website to learn more: unitedwaynefl.org/mission-united

Who is ALICE? It could be your neighbor. Your coworker. Maybe even a loved one.

ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. These are people who are working hard but still struggling to make ends meet.

Each year, we partner with United For ALICE to better understand the realities families face in our community. The latest data shows more than 281,000 families in Northeast Florida are struggling to afford the basics. That's 40% of local households.

On , we're shining a light on a challenge that affects thousands of households across Northeast Florida.

Across Northeast Florida, many households earn too much to qualify for assistance but not enough to comfortably afford the basics. According to ALICE data, a family of four needs to spend $1,602 per month on food alone to meet basic needs. Any unexpected expense might throw off the careful balance many families must navigate to make ends meet.

When neighbors need help, they often turn to United Way 211. In 2026 alone, our team provided information about food banks and food assistance resources 625 times.

Understanding the realities families face is the first step toward creating solutions like 211. Learn more about the resources 211 makes accessible to Northeast Florida here: https://unitedwaynefl.org/get-help/
