We are excited to announce our new board of directors chair, Sabeen Perwaiz!

Sabeen, president and CEO of the Florida Nonprofit Alliance, has been on our board since 2019. As the new chair, Sabeen will work alongside United Way leadership, board members and community partners to advance our strategic priorities and strengthen our work across Northeast Florida.

We've also welcomed three new board members this summer: Will Clancy, Conrad Jennings and Brian Pieninck. We thank them, and our entire board, for their continued commitment to making Northeast Florida better.

These 16 young professionals are ready to strengthen and accelerate their leadership through eye-opening programs, hands-on service and multigenerational mentorship. Looking for a team experience that builds empathy and understanding?

In the Meet ALICE Experience, you take on a household role and navigate a month of expenses, setbacks and hard tradeoffs, all based on current, local data. It shows what life looks like for the roughly 40% of families in our community who earn above the Federal Poverty Level but still can't afford basic needs.

One hour, great for companies, teams, clubs and service organizations. It boosts engagement, supports CSR goals and helps people connect their work to a larger purpose.

Jessica Hurst of Regency Centers says the Meet ALICE Experience gave her a deeper understanding of the tough choices working families face every day.

Cheers to the Stein Fellowship Classes of 2026 and 2027!

Every year, the Stein Fellowship Celebration is our big event to celebrate our graduating Stein class (this time with class-voted superlatives and all) and give a warm welcome to the incoming Stein class.

This year also marks the Stein Fellowship’s 20th anniversary. Thank you to everyone who came and was part of this historical moment!

When the phone rings through the 988 Florida Lifeline, operated locally by United Way of Northeast Florida, there is someone ready to listen on the other side of the line.

There is no judgment toward the caller. They aren't measuring whether the caller’s pain is bad enough. They are listening for the person on the other end reaching out for help.

One of our 988 and crisis specialists wrote about what those first few seconds of a call are actually like for them and what stays with them after the call ends.

We interviewed Jennifer Johnson, one of the Prudential volunteers who spent a morning last week building Teacher Survival Kits, on why she volunteers.

Her experience is just one example of how small acts can create a big impact. Volunteering doesn't have to be a big, formal commitment; it can be as simple as a few hours in good company.
