Spring River School Homeschool with us! Waldorf-inspired K-8 outdoor education program & indoor High School Program Our students learn by doing - engaging the head, hands and heart.

Spring River school is an all outdoors hybrid school program supporting families who have chosen home education. Our K-8 school offers hands-on, creative programming that is inspired by Waldorf Education, meeting each family with warmth and joy. We offer flexible options for our Main Lessons (core academic subjects blended with art, music and storytelling) and Special Subjects (Spanish, modeling,

nature immersion, handwork and drama.) Our 1 day forest program is a truly immersive nature-based experience. Our classes are designed to engage the students' curiosity and imagination and spark a life-long love of learning in a fun, supportive environment. Programming is available for homeschooling students in grades K-7.

In the end, education is not simply about preparing children for the world as it is — it is about protecting the freedom, imagination, humanity, and inner life needed to create what the world might yet become.” 🌿
Last week, our Two-Day, Forest, and High School programs completed their journeys for the year — and today we close the chapter on our Four-Day program as well.
What a year it has been.
Choosing Waldorf-inspired outdoor education is ultimately a choice for educational freedom — the courageous decision to protect childhood in a world that increasingly rushes it away.
Our families continue to choose something radically different:
✨ Nature instead of screens
✨ Rhythm instead of pressure
✨ Creativity instead of constant testing
✨ Human connection instead of disconnection
✨ Wonder, storytelling, movement, beauty, and meaningful work
This year asked much of our students, families, and teachers, and they met it with resilience, adaptability, creativity, and heart.
To our teachers, staff, parents, and students: thank you for helping bring this living, breathing educational community to life each day.
And to the children —
may your summer be filled with sunshine, muddy feet, salt air, imagination, laughter, rest, and adventure. ☀️🌊
☀️Summer, here we come.

“Time in nature is not leisure time; it’s an essential investment in our children’s health.”
— Richard Louv 🌿
Two middle school students stand quietly at the water’s edge, fishing poles in hand beneath the canopy of old Florida trees. At first glance, it may simply look like a peaceful afternoon outdoors. But something much deeper is happening here.
In our Bushcraft & Primitive Skills program, students learn patience, observation, resilience, stewardship, cooperation, and reverence for the natural world. They learn how to be fully present. They learn how to work with their hands, trust their instincts, solve problems creatively, and encounter challenge with courage.
This is why our teachers do what they do.
Not because it is easy — outdoor education asks an enormous amount of educators. It requires adaptability, physical endurance, emotional presence, creativity, and a deep commitment to meeting children in living experiences rather than packaged outcomes.
Our teachers are dedicated because they believe childhood deserves more than constant screens, rushed schedules, and standardized expectations. They believe children deserve wonder. Silence. Beauty. Real work. Real relationships. A chance to know the world directly.
In moments like this — standing beside still water under the Spanish moss — education becomes something ancient and deeply human again.
And perhaps that is what so many children are quietly longing for. 🌎✨
While our Bushcraft & Primitive Skills classes pause for the summer season, we are still accepting applications across all Spring River School programs for the 2026–27 school year.
Thank you for the many gifts you bring to our students and school! We are so grateful!

“We are showered every day with gifts, but they are not meant for us to keep. Our work and our joy is to pass along the gift and to trust that what we put out into the universe will always come back.”
— The Secret to Peace
Some words arrive at exactly the right moment.
This beautiful reflection reminds us that the greatest gifts in life — love, wisdom, kindness, creativity, friendship, and care — are meant to move through us, not stop with us. What we offer to others becomes part of a larger current that continues outward in ways we may never fully see.
In schools, families, and communities, this truth lives quietly every day:
a story shared,
a child encouraged,
a meal prepared,
a hand extended,
a moment of beauty created for another.
May we continue to pass along the gifts we have been given and trust in the unseen ways they return to nourish the world.

💚There is something so poignant about the threshold between 2nd and 3rd grade in Waldorf education.
The dreamy world of early childhood begins to shift, and children slowly awaken into a new relationship with the world around them — more grounded, more questioning, more individual.
In their beautiful play The Magpie’s Nest, our 2nd graders told a story of young birds learning, listening, and eventually flying off to build their own nests in their own way. It feels like the perfect image for this transition.
🪶Childhood does not disappear all at once. It stretches its wings slowly.
And so we watch these children — still full of wonder, imagination, movement, and play — preparing to cross an important bridge. Into third grade. Into greater independence. Into the next chapter of becoming.
May we protect the magic while also making space for growth. 🌿 Thank you to Ms Lyndi for guiding the students through this transition and beyond!

🌸Yesterday, some of our youngest students offered one of the most tender Spring River traditions — a reverse rose ceremony for our eighth graders. 🌹
In Waldorf schools, eighth graders often welcome first graders with roses at the beginning of their journey. Yesterday, that gesture came full circle.
Our first graders presented roses to the students who are now preparing to cross the threshold into high school — a beautiful moment of honoring how much they have grown, who they have become, and the path they helped pave for the younger children following behind them.
There was something especially moving about watching these young children look up to the very students who once stood where they now stand.
This is how community is woven over time:
through memory,
through ritual,
through love,
through witnessing one another’s becoming.
Congratulations to our mighty eighth grade class. You carry with you the blessings of the children walking behind you now. ❤️

💫When we step down memory lane, we remember a time when Spring River met in the Adele Grage Community Center — when Miss Sierra would play the violin and the children would dance barefoot across the floor with joy and abandon.
One of the little ones dancing in this photograph will graduate from eighth grade this week.
What a journey it has been for our school, our families, and these children who have grown up together before our eyes. We are filled with gratitude for every season, every song, every challenge, and every beautiful moment along the way.

And what a journey lies ahead.✨

“Receive the children in reverence, educate them in love, and send them forth in freedom.”

✨ You’re Invited: Celebrate Whitsun with us!
Sunday, May 24 at 6:00 PM · Howell Park · All Are Welcome
Hosted by the Golden Thread Council of Spring River School & Spring River School

Dear Friends,

Please join us in celebrating Whitsun, a sacred and ancient festival that honors the light that lives within us and between us.

Observed in communities around the world, Whitsun celebrates the coming together of individuals in their highest striving—when we unite in love, purpose, and goodwill, something luminous is born among us. Here in North Florida, it is our joy to mark this festival as a celebration of our shared path in education, healing, and community.

This gathering is hosted by the Golden Thread Council of Spring River School—a pedagogical and spiritual endeavor devoted to weaving connection, reverence, and warmth across our programs and throughout our greater community.

When our highest selves come together, our collective light becomes a stellar force—one that lifts up wonder, nourishes spirit, and calls forward unseen support for all we hope to become.

We will gather in the beauty of Howell Park to share simple crafts, meaningful connection, and community celebration. A vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free cake will be lovingly provided so all may partake together. This is a gentle and radiant festival, perfect for all ages.

Please bring:
🌼 A white or gold trinket, stone, or flower to contribute to our community mandala
🤍 Wear white, gold, or yellow if you feel drawn
🍰 An open heart for celebration and connection

Kindly RSVP so we can prepare enough cake and crafting materials for everyone:
