Kittens are adorable. There is no denying that.
They are tiny, sweet, playful, and almost impossible not to fall in love with. But every cute kitten eventually becomes an adult cat, and that cat will need food, litter, vet care, vaccines, flea prevention, emergency care, enrichment, and a safe home for the next 10 to 20 years.
A kitten is not just a cute moment. A kitten is a long-term commitment.
That is why it is so important to be mindful before bringing a cat into your home. Make sure you are ready financially, emotionally, and practically. Make sure you can provide care through every stage of their life, not just while they are small and cute.
And this is also why TNR matters so much.
The goal is not to have more kittens. The goal is to have fewer cats suffering outside, fewer unwanted litters, fewer sick babies, fewer overwhelmed shelters, and fewer people having to make heartbreaking decisions because there are simply too many cats and not enough homes.
Kittens are precious, but preventing more unwanted kittens is one of the kindest things we can do.
Adopting a cat is beautiful when you are truly ready. Spaying, neutering, fostering, adopting responsibly, and supporting TNR are how we protect the cats who are already here.
Because sometimes the most loving thing we can do for cats is make sure fewer of them are born into struggle.
