The Junior League of Jackson recently held its annual Spring Luncheon, a cherished event celebrating the League’s accomplishments and leadership.

During the luncheon, League President Molly Griffin reflected on the year’s milestones and proudly recognized Tish Callender Hughes as the 2026 Amalie Fair Robinson Sustainer of the Year. The event concluded with the meaningful tradition of passing the gavel, as past presidents in attendance symbolically welcomed 2026–2027 President Laura Hearn, who then formally adjourned the luncheon.

This tradition serves as a powerful reminder that each leader builds on the legacy of those who came before, carrying the League forward with strength and vision.

Congratulations to the 2026 Amalie Fair Robinson Sustainer of the Year, Tish Callender Hughes!

Tish Callender Hughes is an exceptional leader and a great example of what this award represents, which recognizes the service of a Sustaining member of the Junior League of Jackson who has visibly made a difference through leadership and voluntarism.

A Past President of the Junior League of Jackson, Tish exemplifies a lifelong commitment to leadership, service, and community impact. Since joining JLJ in 1977, she has helped shape our League while also serving organizations across Mississippi, including the Mississippi Children’s Museum, Methodist Rehabilitation Center, Boys &Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Jackson, and Mississippi Blood Services. Whether leading capital campaigns, serving on boards, or quietly offering guidance and support behind the scenes, Tish has consistently worked to strengthen the institutions that serve our community.

President Molly Griffin and Sustainer Chair Abby Brann presented Tish with the award at the Junior League of Jackson Spring Luncheon.

The Junior League of Jackson is proud to partner with McClean Fletcher Center to support children and families navigating one of life’s most difficult experiences, grief.

Through this program, JLJ facilitator volunteers work alongside trained professionals to provide grief support to children ages 4–18 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. In a safe and nurturing environment, children are able to connect with peers, express their emotions, and begin a healthy healing process.

Behind the scenes, JLJ outreach and food volunteers help create a welcoming space for families by preparing and serving meals, greeting participants, and ensuring each session runs smoothly. These shared meals and moments of connection are an important part of building comfort and community for those who need it most.

Earlier this year, the Junior League of Jackson had the honor of being recognized at the Mississippi State Capitol, thanks to the invitation of Senator Walter Michel and Representative Shanda Yates.

The Mississippi Senate formally passed a resolution commending and congratulating the Junior League of Jackson on 85 years of service to our community and state. The resolution highlighted the League’s long-standing impact, from advocating for the establishment of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, to supporting children’s health, education, and well-being through countless programs and partnerships. It also recognized the dedication of JLJ’s more than 2,200 members, whose volunteer service continues to strengthen communities across Mississippi.

We are incredibly grateful to be recognized for this work and proud to continue building a stronger future for Jackson and beyond.
