A Proud native of Jackson, Mississippi, Mr. Curtis Luckett Jr. is the current Director of Bands at his Alma Mater, Callaway High School in the Jackson Public School District.
Curtis has earned Degrees from HBCUs in the state, which include a Master's of Music Education Degree from Jackson State University. For over a Decade, His love for music and education has earned him several accolades, including Superior ratings in both middle and high school performing ensembles. He has received several honors, including serving as a director of the award-winning Mississippi Alumni All-Star Band (MAAB) and co-creator of the JPS Mass Band.
Mr. Luckett is a dedicated member of the Jackson(MS) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., where he has served on the fraternity’s Guide Right Mentorship committee and has been an Advisor for the PREMIER Chapter of the Jackson Kappa League since its transformation in 2010.
He believes that mentorship and the development of creating youth as better citizens in society is a True call to success. His mottos, “It’s All In God's Plan”, “If You Do Right By People, Right Will Follow”, and “If You Stay Ready, You Don’t Have to Get Ready.”
