Creativity gets loud at our Club! Our youth members participate in activities including dance, theater, and singing, and much of that runs through Drama Matters Afterschool, a curriculum developed with Turner Network Television to bring performing arts into programs like ours.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and our team works hard to do our part every day after school.

Kids learn how to handle conflict by watching the adults around them. That's why our team focuses on teaching practical life skills, such as speaking up, inviting someone new into the group, and working through disagreements with respect.

Character and leadership development have always been a core part of what we do at Boys & Girls Club of Jackson. This is just an example of what it looks like in action every single day.

Supporting our kids and programs does not require a big gesture or gift. Most of what keeps our programs running is most likely already on your grocery run. Here are some of our most-needed items right now:

▪️ Art canvas and poster board
▪️ Individually wrapped snacks
▪️ Headphones for the computer lab
▪️ Copy paper
▪️ Kleenex

We’re proud to accept a Community Grant from the Taco Bell Foundation to
ensure the next generation has the tools needed to succeed in higher education and
beyond. Every time you Round Up your total at a Taco Bell Restaurant, funds
go to support youth scholarships and organizations like ours!

Afternoons at our Clubs are loud in the best, most joyful way possible. In one room, a group is working through math homework with a staff member. Down the hall, someone is learning a dance routine, and outside, a spirited pickup basketball game is underway.

Fall programming is in full swing at Boys & Girls Club of Jackson, and members ages 5 to 18 are welcome across Jackson and Brownsville. Spots can fill up as the season gets going, so it helps to get in touch sooner.

Did you know that International Literacy Day is on September 8th? It's a great time to talk about what reading help actually looks like in our after-school program.

Typically, it's a staff member sitting with a young reader who has stared at the same sentence four times and asking her what she thinks happens next, or coaching a middle schooler through words he doesn't know without any judgment.

This patient, one-on-one attention is a key part of our academic programming, and the progress can really be seen over the course of a semester. Kids who feel capable with a book often carry that confidence into other aspects of their schooling.

Happy National Nonprofit Day! Today, we are thinking about the people who make "Great Futures Start Here" more than a phrase on a wall.

It's our staff who stay late, the volunteers who offer up their weekends, the generous donors who give what they can, and the local businesses that keep saying yes.

Our Boys & Girls Club kids opened their new backpacks this summer with the kind of excitement you cannot fake, and Wellpoint is the reason. Wellpoint provided supplies, t-shirts, and hygiene kits for our campers, then left us with enough extras to share with other local youth who were not able to attend.

School is back in session across West Tennessee, and our doors are open after school! Our Clubs give kids ages 5 to 18 a safe place to go at 3 p.m., with homework help, caring staff who know their names, and plenty of room to just enjoy being a kid.

If you are looking for somewhere your child actually wants to go after the bell rings, we would love to welcome you. Membership is $41 per child per year, and no one is turned away.
