Hello everyone! We are starting this page to serve as the central source of information and updates for our 2021 Central District Day Camp. We are still in the planning phase, but we have a set date and location: July 12-16, 2021 at the campus of Lane College in Jackson, TN. Lane College has graciously offered to host and sponsor our day camp this year. We are planning a week full of exciting outdoor fun, swimming, shooting sports, and most importantly some WEIRD SCIENCE!
We are looking for volunteers to make this event extra special. The following is a general list of what we would like. We prefer to have leaders who can stay the whole time (M-F, 8:30am - 5:30pm), but will take any help we can. Remember, many hands make light work. All leaders will need to complete our youth protection training, which can be done online in about 75 minutes. ***Registered leaders who actively serve the entire week will get a 50% discount off the registration for one scout.
Positions:
Den Leader and Assistant Den Leader(s) for each den (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, Arrow of Light) - responsible for getting the scouts to the different activity areas and leading the 1.5 hour den time each day.
Den Chief for each den - ScoutsBSA First Class or above, serve as youth assistant to the Den Leader and Assistant Den Leader.
Food Service Supervisor and assistants - responsible for ensuring breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack for each scout daily. Meal will be coming from a school lunch program, and snacks will be purchased by the day camp and be related to the theme.
This year will be different as we are working to get Lane College faculty or upperclassmen from the various STEM-related departments to serve as our daily activity leaders. Each day will be based on a different STEM field. We are also planning a service project for Lane College in appreciation of all their support.
Please like and follow this page to stay up to date on any information changes. Feel free to share this page and let any Cub Scout-age youth you meet know about the chance to spend a week on a real college campus and having a great time.
