Once again Jackson County Conservation District (JCCD) dominated the community Trunk or Treat competition with our Toy Story theme. With over 850 kids come through and their families, we were able to highlight our organization and I passed out some information on tree of Heaven and spotted lanternfly!

Last week Conservation District staff from across Michigan had the opportunity to attend the annual meeting of the Michigan Association of Conservation District. We gave a presentation on how conservation districts could include invasive species into district activities! Our former staff member Chris gave a talk on digital accessibility options as new laws go into effect, and this requires the conservation districts to become digitally accessible.

Some are non-profits, some are housed at city parks, conservancys etc. Please say hello to one of our partners the Michigan Association of Conservation District as we attend the MACD conference where we gave a talk.

This was the second half of the conference and we had a lot of Michigan representation! I didn't get to all the presentations but I got a few so you get a flavor of some of the work that we're doing. I gave a second presentation on wednesday. There's a lot of cool ideas and techniques that we learned about at this conference from other states that we're hoping to include in our programming and field work and the next year! With this being lacrosse we couldn't help have some ice cream at the Pearl ice cream parlor wish we were told is special to the area. We also had a unwanted pet return table on the last day and somebody dropped off and albino turtle.

We are at UMISC, learning and gave two presentations!
