Meet Senior Paramedic Liz Callahan, JCA's American Ambulance Association Star of Life.

Liz has served with Jackson Community Ambulance since 2022 and, during her time as an EMS provider, has become a skilled, trusted, and compassionate Paramedic. Liz is known for top-notch patient care and building strong working relationships with her coworkers. She displays compassion for everyone she meets and loves the challenge of helping others.

Paramedic Mike C is helping build bunkbeds for kids who need them in the Jackson community through a local nonprofit. They are in need of more people to help build beds in Haslett Sept 12. Beds built will help the local community.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace Mission: We build beds for children in need, ensuring that NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!

Center Stage Jackson is putting on a production of "The Guys" from September 10 - 13 in honor of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

This play highlights the lives of first responders who lost their lives that day and honors those who continue to serve. Center Stage is graciously donating all proceeds from this event to JCA, the Jackson County Fire Chiefs Association, and Police Week Michigan.

Congratulations to JCA Paramedic Supervisor Mike Caryl on helping to found a Jackson chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace - MI, Jackson, a nonprofit that builds free beds for families with children who do not have a bed of their own. Mike shared that his experience as a paramedic and being in people's homes opened his eyes to the need for beds in his community.

The state budget deadline is July 1. Tell your Senator to fix funding issues in the budget that are hurting EMS.
EMS agencies across Michigan are asking our Senators to ensure the budget keeps Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements for EMS in-line with allowable rates and pays Michigan's EMS providers $6M owed for emergency care provided to the state's prisons.

CALL TO ACTION: Tell Michigan Senators to Fix Issues That Are Hurting EMS!

Two changes are needed in the state budget:
1. Updating budget boilerplate to update Medicaid reimbursement at the allowable rate and ensure that budget boilerplate language keeps the Medicaid rates in line with the respective annual Medicare increases.
2. Allocating funds to finally pay providers for service to Michigan’s prisons in 2023 and 2024 that left nearly $6 million owed to providers by the Michigan Department of Corrections.
