Our annual Conversation About Community is back. On Wednesday, October 21, join us at the Two Mississippi Museums for an evening with Heather McGhee, author of The Sum of Us, where she’ll be in conversation with Dr. Robert Luckett from the Margaret Walker Center.

Food and drinks start at 5 pm.

The conversation keeps going after that night. We’re sponsoring books for Sum of Us book clubs across Jackson, and we’ll bring everyone back together in January on the National Day of Racial Healing.

Our afterschool and summer program provides exposure to horizon expanding experiences for kids while providing intensive academic tutoring and support.

Kids in our programs typically outperform their peers academically and have fewer disciplinary incidents in school, both of which are often predictors of future success. Higher rates of literacy and other indicators of academic achievement are also correlated with higher high school graduation rates and postsecondary attainment rates.
