It is with heavy hearts that we extend our deepest condolences to the family of Brent Lowe following his unexpected passing yesterday.

Brent was more than the Butts County School Superintendent—he was a true supporter of our community and a valued friend of the Greater Butts County Lions Club. His encouragement, partnership, and dedication to the students, families, and future of Butts County made a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.

This year, we had the privilege of recognizing Brent’s son, Cal Lowe, as a recipient of two Greater Butts County Lions Club scholarships. Seeing Cal’s accomplishments and bright future reflected the values of hard work, service, and commitment that Brent encouraged and exemplified.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Brandi, and their children, Maggie, Cal, and Clint, during this unimaginable time. We pray they find strength, comfort, and peace in the love that surrounds them and in the many lives Brent touched.

Last night The Greater Butts County Lions Club, was honored to be part of the Jackson High School honors night. Nights like this remind us why we do what we do.

At the Lions Club, our mission is simple—serve others and strengthen our community. One of the most meaningful ways we can do that is by investing in the future of our youth.

This year, we were proud to award seven scholarships. Five of these are $2,000 scholarships recognizing not only academic excellence, but also a strong commitment to community involvement. These students have worked hard in the classroom while also giving their time, energy, and heart to making Butts County a better place.

We were also honored to present two $1,000 Tyler Prine Memorial Scholarships in the medical field. Tyler’s parents were local business owners and strong supporters of the Lions Club. Tyler was an engineering student at the University of Alabama, and he tragically passed away at just 20 years old due to complications from diabetes. In his memory, we host an annual 5K to raise awareness and support efforts related to diabetes. These scholarships honor his life and legacy by supporting students who feel called to make a difference in the medical and engineering field.

To all of last nights recipients: we are incredibly proud of you. Your dedication, your character, and your willingness to serve set you apart. Whether your path leads you into medicine, business, education, or beyond, we know you will continue to make a difference.
