06-15 CAN WE BE LIKE STEPHEN ?

America was founded on the Bible, whether you believe it or not. But like in the old Testament, when Israel turned its back on God, on the surface, America doesn’t seem much like a Christian nation. But those who are coming into our country bringing false gospels aren’t to blame it's us, the church for compromising our belief under the lie of not wanting to offend, and for not standing on the Word of God. In the early days of the church, those who made a stand for God often were beaten, thrown in jail and even killed, but they didn’t compromise. Stephen was one of those who would not give in to their demands. When he was brought before the court of that day, the Sanhedrin, he stood his ground.
Acts 6:15 says; “All who were sitting in the Sanhedrin looked intently at Stephen, and they saw that his face was like the face of an angel”.
Know what Stephen had been arrested for? Preaching the Gospel with boldness! Know who had him arrested? Religious leaders! Like today, we have a lot of religion but not much of Jesus! But did Stephen begin to cry and complain about his situation? No! Even facing death, (and they did stone to death,) he remained true to his calling from God. According to our scripture today, his face was like an angel's, when he was brought to appear in court. I pray that if I’m accused or arrested for being a Born Again Christian there will be enough evidence to convict me!
Born again Christians, do you make a stand for God or run and hide?

06-14 FORGIVENESS

Matthew 6:14: “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”.
It’s a real blessing to know God will forgive us, and all we have to do it ask. But He also requires us to forgive those who have done us wrong. And you’re right, sometimes we can’t do that on our own, or at least it’s very difficult to do, but with the help of The Holy Spirit, we can. If you ask, from your heart, He can and will help you to put the bitterness that causes you all that frustration, behind you. However, in verse 15, He says that if we hold back and refuse to forgive, then He won’t forgive us. Whoa, I can’t afford that! Are you going around feeling guilty or frustrated? Could be because something happened in the past you haven’t been able to forgive. Take some time today to analyze your life, check if there is some bitterness or anger stuck back somewhere. Then, ask God to help you forgive so you can receive the forgiveness you need.

06-13 SPIRITUAL ARMOR

In the book of Ephesians, Paul lists the spiritual armor of God, and each piece is needed to stand against, and go through the attacks from satan, our enemy.
Ephesians 6:13-17; “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God".
Just like each piece of my clothing, I also put on each piece of our spiritual armor as well each morning, on Jan and me, before I start my day. Husbands, it’s our responsibility to do this for our wives as well since we are their spiritual head, no matter if we’re physically together or not. God warned us in Ephesians that “the day of evil” is coming, not that it might come, and even offers the equipment to stand through it all, but it has to be put to use or it’s of no avail. You can park right beside an air hose, but the air won’t get into the tire that’s low, without some effort on your part.
Take a few minutes before starting your day, spending time reading from the Bible out loud, (Romans 10:17), and in prayer, asking God for His directions for the day, and don’t forget to put on your spiritual armor.
I’m Chaplain Joe, have a Jesus filled day!

06-12 Follow the Leader, Jesus Christ

Hebrews 6:12
That you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

THOUGHT:
The writer of Hebrews, is urging us not to get lazy or sluggish in our walk with the Lord. However, we, as a people, are guilty of not taking every opportunity to study the Bible and witness for God. He tells us here to imitate those who were before us and they were so sold out to God, it cost some of them their very lives.
Some say they don’t witness because they “don’t want to offend anyone.” Personally, I had rather risk offending someone than watch them go to Hell. However, witnessing should be done in love and not with condemnation. That’s the way Jesus did it when He was here.
Not everyone you speak to will receive it, but we are only to plant seeds, remembering, we’re sowers, not growers, that’s God’s job. Since the Bible also says in Galatians 6:7-8 that I will reap whatever I sow, I want to be sure I try and sow seeds of peace and joy where ever I go.
Our scripture today tells us to imitate those heroes in the Bible who lived here before us, and there’s none greater than Jesus Himself. Once a person is born again, studying the life of Jesus will give a great way to form your life and the book of John is a great place to start.
Follow The Leader, Jesus!

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, help me to find the true love, joy, and peace that comes from following your son, Jesus Christ, so others might find it also while watching me.
AMEN.

06-11 GUIDE

In Acts 8:26-39 The Holy Spirit guides, or leads, Phillip to witness to an Ethiopian eu**ch, Phillip noticed he was reading from the book of Isaiah and asked if he understood what he was reading. His response was as ours should be and that was he needed someone to guide him. That’s the job of The Holy Spirit to guide us as we read from the Bible.
Phillip sat down with this man and shared Jesus with him from this book in the Old Testament, because Jesus is found throughout the Bible which is another reason we need to have the whole Bible. Also, we need to attend church and or Bible study / Fellowship meetings, where the Word of God is being preached or taught, so we will grow in our faith and understanding of the Bible.
That’s the purpose of Truckstop Ministries is to have Bible studies/Fellowship Meetings where you can ask questions and get Bible based answers. In turn, as we learn the Word, we become guides to others who are looking for answers to life’s questions. No, you or I don’t know all the answers, but the greatest guide of all times lives in all born again Christians, and if we spend time reading the Bible out loud, (Romans 10:17), The Holy Spirit has something to pull from and will use you and me to help guide others to a better understanding of God’s Word.
It works just like a computer; you can pull out only the information that has been put into it. Are you taking time to make sure the Bible is being put into your spirit-man or woman? Do you have The Holy Spirit as your Guide today, and do you allow Him to use you to guide others?
I’m Chaplain Joe praying for growth in your Christian life..
