As August comes to a close, we have one simple request.

Please help us continue saying “yes” to families who need a little more time.

TPCS can provide shelter for up to 24 families at one time, more than 70 individuals. Some families stay for only a week. Others need several months to secure permanent housing and regain stability.

Your donation to our Charity Care Fund helps ensure that a mother and her children are not forced to leave before they are truly ready.

Whether you can give $25, $50, $75 or another amount, every contribution helps provide safety, stability, and hope.

If our mission speaks to your heart, please consider making a donation today and sharing this post with others who believe every family deserves the opportunity to succeed.

Together, we can change lives, one family at a time. Click here to be a part of the change: tpcsinc.org/donate-today

As we shared on Tuesday as part of our Charity Care Fund campaign, we wanted to take a moment to show you what your support actually looks like.

From Juneteenth cookouts to Halloween costumes, Mother’s Day celebrations to Christmas mornings, these moments are more than just events on a calendar. They’re proof that even in the middle of a housing crisis, families can still laugh, celebrate, and feel like themselves.

Every smile in this collage belongs to a mother or family member who walked through our doors during one of the hardest chapters of their lives. And every one of them found a little more than shelter here. They found community, dignity, and hope for what comes next.

It’s a privilege for us to help create these moments. Charity Care makes it possible for us to extend a family’s stay when they need just a little more time to get back on their feet, and to keep showing up for celebrations big and small along the way.

Please consider contributing to our Charity Care Fund. Every gift helps us keep bringing moments like these to the families who need them most.

When people think about emergency shelter, they often picture a place to sleep.

At TPCS, we see something much bigger.

We see mothers learning new skills through parenting, budgeting, and job readiness workshops. We see children laughing during holiday celebrations and family events. We see families sharing meals, building confidence, and preparing for a brighter future.

From our Juneteenth celebration to the Halloween, Christmas, and New Year’s events we host each year, we believe every family deserves moments of joy while they work toward a fresh start.

Your support helps make all of this possible.

Together, we are creating hope, stability, and brighter futures for families throughout our community.

Not every family is ready to move into permanent housing the day their funding ends. Sometimes a mother is waiting for an apartment to become available. Sometimes she has a new job starting in just a few weeks. Sometimes a child needs a little more stability before another transition.

That is why TPCS created our Charity Care Fund.

This fund helps cover the cost of extending a family’s stay when other funding has ended but they just need a little more time to reach the next step.

It is often those extra days or weeks that prevent a family from becoming homeless again.
Every dollar donated helps give a family the opportunity to move forward instead of starting over.

If you would like to support our Charity Care Fund, please consider making a donation today. No gift is too small because every dollar makes a difference.

We would be remiss if we didn’t share a short story with you about Jordan.

Not too long ago, Jordan and her son found stability at TPCS during one of the hardest seasons of her life. Even then, her resilience and compassion stood out. She was the resident who shared budgeting tips with her peers, who encouraged others to stay focused on their goals, who showed up for her shelter community again and again.

While staying at TPCS, Jordan worked double shifts to save enough money to move into her very own apartment. With the support and stability TPCS provided during that difficult time, she was able to make that transition. Her goal was always to rebuild her life, become self-sufficient, and never have to return to shelter living.

Today, Jordan is a proud business owner running her own daycare, and she still shows up for TPCS families. She offers flexibility, transportation, and grace to parents who are rebuilding their lives, because she’s walked that road herself.

Jordan is proof of what’s possible when families are given the support and the chance to write a new chapter. We are so proud to call her part of our TPCS family.

August is here, and at TPCS we are thinking about the mothers and children who need a safe place to call home while they rebuild their lives.

Every day, we provide emergency shelter and wraparound support that includes clinical and supportive services, personalized case management, housing assistance, life skills workshops, job readiness training, budgeting, parenting education, and so much more.

Our goal is never just to provide a place to stay. We help families move toward stability, independence, and hope.

Throughout August, we’ll be sharing stories about the work happening inside our walls and how
you can help make a difference.

Thank you for believing that every family deserves a safe place to heal, grow, and begin again.

At TPCS, we know that investing in our team is investing in the families we serve. Our staff recently gathered for a training session focused on strengthening the skills, systems, and practices that make a real difference in the lives of the mothers and children who count on us every day. 🚨CHURCH COLLECTION APPRECIATION ALERT

We want to pause and give heartfelt applause to the congregation of Saint Matthew AME Church and to every person who played a part in showing up with care. Your kindness and generosity truly stand out 🫶

As you know, TPCS provides emergency shelter and wrap-around services for mothers and families facing difficult and uncertain times. While our team works hard to meet immediate needs, we know that the true difference is made when others choose to help with dignity, compassion, and love, especially during moments that are often overwhelming.

Saint Matthew AME Church in the City of Orange collected essential items including new hygiene toiletries, towels, blankets, socks, books, detergent, and other supply donations. Thank you for reminding our families that they are not forgotten and that people still care.

📣To our followers:
Let this be encouragement to do the same. Engage your places of worship. Ask how you can partner, through service drives, prayer support, volunteer time, or donations. When communities care together, families gain hope together.

If you believe in lifting mothers and families with compassion and dignity, we would love for you to reach out and get involved with TPCS and your local faith communities.

Thank you, Saint Matthew AME Church, for being the hands and heart that make care possible 🙏🏽❤️

Why do mothers and families experience homelessness?

❌ Myth: “They don’t have jobs.”
✅ Fact: Many mothers experiencing homelessness are working or have worked but still cannot afford stable housing.

❌ Myth: “They made poor choices.”
✅ Fact: The reality is often far more complex. Families face challenges like sudden job loss, domestic violence, medical emergencies, rising rent, lack of affordable childcare, or unexpected financial crises.

❌ Myth: “There is enough support out there already.”
✅ Fact: Accessing help can be difficult. Long waitlists, limited resources, and systemic barriers often leave families without the support they need when they need it most.

At TPCS, we see the full story. We provide not just emergency housing, but wraparound services that help mothers and their children rebuild stability, safety, and independence.

When we understand the real reasons behind homelessness, we can respond with compassion and solutions that truly make a difference.

Another Mom on the Move 🚚

Meet Ms. Curry, a hardworking mother of three, and one of the most inspiring people to walk through our doors.

Ms. Curry arrived at TPCS having done something incredibly brave. She advocated for herself, picked up the phone, and made the call to change her circumstances. From day one, she was a burst of sunshine in our shelter, and her energy was absolutely unmatched. She came in with a goal and never wavered!

Ms. Curry showed up for every opportunity available, from job readiness workshops and parenting classes to financial literacy sessions with Chase Bank. She utilized our housing assistance resources, leaned into mental health support, and took full advantage of the life skills programming offered to her.

Her dedication paid off! Ms. Curry has officially moved to Upstate New York and is stepping boldly into her next chapter. She left beaming with pride and so did we 💜
