Unity Day is more than wearing a color. It's about sending a powerful message that bullying has no place in our schools or our community, and that every child deserves to feel safe, supported and valued.

We encourage students, teachers, families and our entire Citrus County community to wear orange tomorrow and help spread a message of unity!

🧡We know Unity Day falls on the same day as Picture Day this year! While we typically encourage everyone to wear orange to show kindness, acceptance, and inclusion, we completely understand that families may already have special picture outfits planned. Please don’t stress! Wear orange if you can, even if it’s just a little touch of orange. Every bit of participation helps us spread the message that we stand together against bullying! 🧡

𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐎. 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐗𝐓 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍.
On September 28, 2021, the Citrus County School District lost Antonio Elijah Hicks, a 16-year-old Citrus High School student-athlete, after he collapsed during football practice. Antonio wore 𝗡𝗼. 𝟱𝟲 for the Hurricanes and was known for his love of sports, his teammates, his family and his community.

In the years since his passing, Antonio’s legacy has continued through efforts to raise awareness about hidden heart conditions in young athletes and help protect other families from experiencing a similar loss.

We’re proud to help share 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 taking place this week in Antonio’s memory:

💙💛 Today, we remember Phil Royal on what would have been his birthday.🕯

One of the most meaningful ways we can 𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍 is by continuing what the Phil Royal Legacy was created to do: 𝒊𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒌𝒊𝒅𝒔, 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒐𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚.

Today, we remember Andy Lahera and the life, love and impact he left behind.

Andy’s story continues to touch so many throughout our community, and today we hold the Lahera family especially close in our hearts. His memory is a reminder of just how deeply one life can impact so many others.

From all of us at the Phil Royal Legacy, we remember Andy today and send our love, prayers and continued support to Lmnv Michelle, Nicholas and Vincent Lahera, and everyone who loved him. 💙🖤

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001 - the lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the countless acts of courage, compassion and service that followed.

Their example reminds us of the power of coming together, serving others and standing strong as a community.

May we always honor their memory through the way we care for one another.
