From the Road with Monica and Karly in Nemaha County đźš—
There’s a strong sense of pride in Nemaha County, and you can see it in what communities choose to value.
We saw communities prioritizing kids with impressive playgrounds and spaces to gather, play and make memories. That’s part of creating the choir. Give young people reasons to love where they’re from, and those connections can stick.
We saw entrepreneurial spirit in all shapes and sizes. A new bar and grill bringing new life to Goff’s historic bank building. Manufacturing businesses that have helped spur Sabetha forward. And then there’s Kent and Molly Grimm at Sycamore Springs (yes, we may have crossed a line), who have created a pretty special oasis in the countryside. We’ll leave some mystery here. It’s worth taking the road to see for yourself.
We saw communities value their history, too, from the little Bancroft depot to the Nemaha County Museum, where you can even step inside the old jail tucked into the former sheriff’s home. Throughout the county, there are stories being saved, shared and built upon.
And in Corning, years of investing in the community one project at a time are sending a message: this is a place worth coming home to.
Nemaha County has a spirit about it. People are proud of their places, creating things worth loving and giving the next generation reasons to feel connected to where they’re from.
