In July, we distributed more than $116,000 to support 32 creative projects across the region. Now, we're looking for the next projects to invest in!

One week from today, we'll open up grant applications for artists and organizations (cultural organizations, nonprofits, and educational institutions) on Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard.

๐ŸŽ‰ It's always exciting to see local artists who have graduated from our Capacity-Building Program at Arts Barnstable's HyArts Artist Shanties!

๐Ÿ‹ This week, we reconnected with ALR Designs Alyssa Ruggieri as she was diligently working on her art in her shanty overlooking Hyannis Harbor. If you're in the area this weekend, make sure to stop by, say hello, and check out her coastal-themed pieces which are inspired by the Cape!

In our fast-paced world where technology is at every turn, five high school students worked alongside two artists, Joe Diggs and Brendan Nicolan, to step away from that noise and create something that honors the Cape's rich cultural history โ€” a public mural at the Cape Cod Melody Tent.

This Wednesday, we'll be holding a celebration of that mural that not only celebrates the Melody Tent's 75th anniversary, but the power of artistic collaboration as a way to strengthen the creative vibrancy of our community.

One week from today, we'll be holding a ribbon cutting for a new mural celebrating the Cape Cod Melody Tent's 75-year history as a cultural venue for music, theatre, comedy, dance, and more.

We partnered with the Melody Tent on the mural which was created by our 2025 Artist of the Year Joe Diggs with five talented high school students โ€” Sturgis Charter Public School graduates Elliot Chapman and Larsen Wake, seniors JoJo Sader and Amelia Stoots, and Barnstable High School graduate Kianna Hicks โ€” and Cape Cod Community College grad and Massachusetts College of Art and Design student Brendan Nicolan .

You can learn more about the project at https://www.artsfoundation.org/news/new-melody-tent-mural-honors-the-past-while-celebrating-the-future

As Kianna shared with us, "I hope when people see the mural, they really see that as students, we do really care about what weโ€™re doing, and we care about the art weโ€™re making. I hope they see that in the final product."

There was a sign at yesterday's Falmouth Road Race Expo which asked, "Tell us why you are running the Falmouth Road Race!" which people could sign.

Today, we're grateful that nine runners stepped up to run this year's race for the arts. Each of them understands that the arts improve our lives, making us a more vibrant, joyful, connected, and creative community.

You can support our team โ€” and strengthen our creative sector โ€” with a donation at https://raceroster.com/events/2026/112177/the-2026-asics-falmouth-road-race/pledge/team/925019

We're already looking forward to next year when the Road Race turns 55! If you're interested in being part of our team, email us at [email protected].

Christina Park of Martha's Vineyard is relatively new to running, have started two years ago. That hasn't stopped her from finishing several 5Ks on the island and the Newport Rhode Races Half Marathon in the spring.

Tomorrow, she will run her first-ever Falmouth Road Race in support of the Arts Foundation before she sets her sights on completing her first 26.2-mile race when she crosses the Chicago Marathon off her list.

Read more about Christina's passion for running and why she is so excited to support the arts (and what they have meant to her daughter) at https://www.artsfoundation.org/news/finding-her-stride-through-running
