The Death of the Deadly Sins, edited by Daniel M. Doriani, is a biblically grounded, historically rich, and pastorally wise call to recover a robust vision of Christian virtue. Rather than treating the seven deadly sins as outdated categories or reducing sanctification to behavior modification, the contributors root virtue in gospel transformation. Drawing from Scripture, church history, and practical theology, the book shows how God’s grace reorders disordered loves through the ordinary means of grace, moving Christians from vice to virtue. This is an excellent resource for anyone seeking deeper spiritual formation, renewed Christian character, and a clearer vision of holiness that magnifies the beauty of Christ in a fallen world.

When your spouse’s heart feels hard, hope can feel distant. Marriage is difficult because two sinners are joined together, and conflict is inevitable. But your hope was never meant to rest in your marriage—it rests in Christ.

Respond with long-suffering love, remembering the mercy God has shown you in Christ (Rom. 5:8). Pray faithfully—not only for your spouse to change, but for God to shape your heart through the trial (Rom. 5:1–5). Speak the truth in love, avoiding both silence and harshness (Eph. 4:15), and seek wise, godly help when needed (Matt. 18).

You may not be able to change your spouse’s heart—but God can. And even if He doesn’t, He will be faithful to change you.
