Earlier this week we got the chance to celebrate this wonderful family as they finalized the adoption of their sweet little boyđź’™

We’ve watched this family love this little guy with everything they have and to say he is thriving is an understatement! We are so grateful to have been part of his story and that he’s in his forever home!

It's fun fact Friday! Did you know that CASA advocates do more than just go to court? Some of the best ways advocates form a well-rounded relationship with their CASA children is to be more involved in every area in their lives. This includes attending school functions, birthday parties, adoptions, or even just dropping by for lunch. Being a part of the small moments make a big difference in their CASA child's life!

Join us in helping children celebrate their wins. Become an advocate and be a part of something great!

Today we celebrate something that doesn’t get a lot of attention - National Kinship Care month. This is a special time to appreciate and honor the grandparents, relatives, or close family friends who provide care and help raise children when their parents are unable to do so. We thank all kinship care providers for the support and love they show!

Earlier this week we hosted a lunch and learn at our office for Advocates to learn how to improve their court report skills.

We love any chance we get to spend quality time with our Advocates and are grateful for their dedication and commitment to learning and being the best CASA Advocate they can be. ❤️💙

Help us congratulate our ✨August Advocate of the Month✨ Tonie Sikes!

An advocate for eight years, Tonie brings a wealth of experience to her current case. Even when one of the children, a teen, has been hesitant to communicate with her, Tonie has remained patient and consistent. Rather than becoming discouraged, she continues to show up, build trust, and give her teen the time and space needed to feel comfortable with her.

Knowing that her nudges must be gentle, Tonie emailed the teen and in her first email, she said, “I hear you prefer not to return my calls. I understand that. You did not choose me to be your new CASA. That's just one more thing you didn't have a choice in. Here's my side of our situation. I CHOSE YOU. I had a choice.” She also ended each message with a silly joke, such as: What do you call an angry carrot? A steamed veggie!

This has been a beautiful illustration of how an advocate's patience combined with persistence pays off because this teen has slowly begun to trust Tonie and open up to her. We are grateful for Tonie’s faithfulness, compassion, and dedication.

As the back-to-school season ends, we wanted to share a highlight from the first day of school for one of our CASA children.

This young man has become very bonded with his CASA Advocate. He's unfortunately had many people in his life change over and over again, so his Advocate Bethany knows how much it means to show up for him. During an earlier visit he asked her if she would be there for his first day of school and when he got on the bus to help send him off. Of course, Bethany said yes! She not only showed up for him and helped send him off with a smile but in order to do so she woke up well before the sun rose to drive the almost 2 hours to where he is placed in order to be there ahead of the bus. To say he was happy to see her is an understatement! Once the bus arrived, he ran up with a big smile ready to greet the bus driver and gave him a high five.

This sweet boy can struggle with big changes and big emotions but has been working hard to better handle them. The first day school can bring a lot of emotions for any child, especially children in foster care. However, because of Bethany he was able to start his day off on the right foot and feel supported during a big moment.
