Help us congratulate our June ✨Advocate of the Month✨ Marcie Bartholomew!

Marcie exemplifies what it means to be a dedicated Court Appointed Special Advocate. No matter the obstacles, she faces them head-on with determination and grace, always keeping the best interests of the children at the center of her work.

Currently serving five children across three different placements, Marcie skillfully navigates a wide range of personalities, circumstances, and caregiver expectations. She is available to answer questions, find needed resources, and be a sounding board for the adults who have stepped up to care for these children.

She connects with them by kicking a soccer ball together, writing with sidewalk chalk, and playing board games. Sorry! is a favorite board game among them. Marcie understands the importance of building trust and strives to form strong relationships with her assigned children. We are incredibly grateful for Marcie’s steadfast dedication and are honored to celebrate her this month.

Statewide, CASA volunteers are traveling A LOT to maintain consistent contact and advocacy with children and youth moved away from their home county. The longest distance a volunteer traveled in 2025 was from East Texas to Washington State! 🤯 One of our own CASAs recently traveled to Tennessee to visit her child!

Being placed in an unfamiliar surrounding while going through such a vulnerable season in life makes it nearly impossible for children to feel a sense of normalcy and safety. That is why CASA advocacy is more vital than ever!

Last week, we had the privilege of gathering with leaders from CASA programs around the state to discuss the challenges faced by CASA today, and the unique and innovative ways that programs are facing these challenges head on! With Executive Directors and Board Presidents gathered in one place, in was truly a meeting of the best of the best!

CASA volunteers show up! 👏 Volunteers believe in children, fight for them, and are consistent advocates when everyone and everything changes around them.

It's not easy but it IS quite simple.

With their consistent presence, CASA volunteers could be the one true sense of normalcy that foster children experience as they miss their family, friends, and home.
