Call for Volunteer Photographers, Runners, Walkers, Donors, and Other Volunteers!!! The 46th Annual Harry Chapin Memorial Run Against Hunger is coming up on Sunday, Oct. 18th in Croton-on-Hudson, NY (just 30 miles north of New York City) -- or join us virtually from anywhere in the world at your conveience!! Register now for our 5K Race or Walk, 10K Race, and/or 1-Mile Fun Run! It's going to be a blast! Free t-shirt for the first 300 registrants in the 5K and 10K events (whether you participate in-person or virtually!) Free medal for all children in the 1-Mile Fun Run! Awards, barbecue, Harry Chapin's music, pumpkin painting, and more! Proceeds benefit local anti-hunger organizations as well as WhyHunger (co-founded by Harry Chapin and Bill Ayres), Carolyn Belshe Orphanage in Mozambique, and Institut Montfort School for Deaf Children in Haiti! We mourn the passing of Bill Ayres, who was an incredible friend and who made such a difference in so many lives from the time he and Harry teamed up to found World Hunger Year in 1975 (now WhyHunger) and in the more than 50 years since. Like Harry, he had an indomitable spirit. He worked at the grassroots level with community-based nonprofit organizations across the U.S. and around the world that were developing and implementing innovative solutions to hunger and poverty. He worked hard at the federal level with legislators to advance legislation that changed lives -- including, for example, a program to ensure school children who received free or discounted lunches during the school year could also access food during the summer when school is not in session. That helped prevent hunger among countless lives. His spirit, committment, empathy and concern for others exemplified who he was and how he led by example. We are forever grateful for all that he accomplished during his lifetime. Thank you, Bill. Our hearts go out to Bill's wife Jeannine, his daughters Michelle and Suzi, his granddaughter Jaida, and his entire family.

Here on E Street, the irreplaceable loss of Dave Marsh has us heartbroken. My great friend Dave, with his straight out of Detroit attitude, was a true Rock ‘n’ Roll lifer. He was soulful, intelligent, heartfelt, opinionated, bruising and often fantastically argumentative. Watching Jon Landau and Dave drive each other crazy over some arcane piece of music would make my day. He wrote the first book about me, Born To Run, and Dave always had my back. He deeply believed in what I was trying to accomplish and his lifetime of support meant the world to me. More than anything else, I admired Dave as a man of conscience and commitment. He lived and stuck by his values come hell or high water. Wherever he is, I hope he's receiving some of the grace, happiness and reward he's brought into my life. God bless you Dave,
