🍅 A Garden Grown with Love

This lovely young neighbor has been bringing us fresh tomatoes from her garden all summer long—and each delivery has been such a blessing!

This year, so many generous home gardeners throughout our community have shared from their harvests. Together, they have donated hundreds of pounds of beautiful, fresh produce for the families we serve.

We are so grateful to be able to offer healthy, garden-fresh fruits and vegetables through our Community Pantry. These thoughtful gifts nourish families, stretch grocery budgets, and remind our neighbors that their community cares about them.

Thank you to every gardener who planted a little extra, picked from their own backyard, and shared the harvest with Helping Hand Rescue Mission. Every tomato, cucumber, squash, pepper, and bundle of fresh herbs has made a difference! 💚

🌿 SUNDAY SELAH

Love Often Looks Simple

“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
— Matthew 25:40

Sometimes we imagine that making a difference requires doing something extraordinary.

But often, love looks very simple.

It looks like a bag of groceries placed into someone’s hands.

A warm coat offered on a cold day.

Diapers given to a mother who is worried about making them last.

A backpack that helps a child begin school with confidence.

A patient person who takes the time to sit, listen, and remind someone that they are not alone.

Jesus teaches us that when we care for someone in need, we are also serving Him.

Every quiet act of kindness matters.

Every gift given with love carries dignity, encouragement, and hope.

Today, pause and ask God to help you notice the person who may need something simple—an encouraging word, a listening ear, a prayer, or a helping hand.

You may not be able to change everything, but you can allow God to use you to change one person’s day.

🙏 Lord, open my eyes to the needs around me. Give me a compassionate heart and willing hands. Help me remember that every act of love offered to another person is also an offering to You. Amen.

💛 YOUR LIKE AND SHARE CAN MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE!

Did you know that simply liking, commenting on, and sharing Helping Hand Rescue Mission’s videos can have a financial impact on the work we do?

Every interaction helps our videos reach more people. The more people who see our stories, the greater the opportunity for someone to donate, volunteer, organize a collection, purchase an item from our wish list, or introduce our Mission to a business or organization that wants to help.

A like may seem small—but it tells social media platforms to show the video to more people.

A comment increases engagement and keeps the post visible.

A share places our mission directly in front of people we may never have reached on our own.

Not everyone is able to make a financial donation, but everyone can help us expand our reach. Your click may be the reason a new donor discovers us, a family receives groceries, or a child receives a new backpack filled with school supplies.

So when you see one of our videos, please take a moment to like, comment, and share. It costs nothing, takes only a few seconds, and can help bring meaningful support to local families.

Thank you for helping us turn views into awareness—and awareness into action! 💛

🌿 SUNDAY SELAH

Why We Take a Day of Rest

“Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
— Mark 6:31

At Helping Hand Rescue Mission, our days are often filled with people, needs, donations, decisions, and preparations. There is always something more that could be done especially as we prepare to pack backpacks for approximately 1,500 children this week.

But God never intended for us to work without stopping.

Rest is not laziness, and it does not mean we are neglecting the work. Rest is an act of trust a reminder that God continues working even when we pause.

We take a day of rest so our bodies can recover, our minds can become quiet, and our hearts can return to the reason we serve. We cannot continually pour into others without allowing God to refill us.

So, if your message isn’t returned or your phone call isn’t answered on Sunday, please know we’re simply taking time to rest, recharge, and prepare our hearts to serve you better in the week ahead. 💛

Today, we pause. We breathe. We give thanks for what has been accomplished, and we trust God with everything that is still waiting.

Tomorrow, we will return refreshed and ready to serve our community with renewed strength, compassion, and joy.

💛 Sunday Selah Thought:

Rest is not stepping away from your purpose. It is allowing God to prepare you for what comes next.

🎒💙 48 young people. Two incredible churches. One enormous heart for serving! 🙌

A huge thank-you to Dix Hills Evangelical Free Church and Grace Gospel Church of Patchogue for coming together today to help us prepare for our Best First Day Backpack Week!

Under the direction of Pastor Stephen and Pastor Troy, 48 energetic young people worked hard moving and loading a 15-foot truck filled with school supplies! 📚✏️🚚 They also helped sort and organize donations and pack pantry bags at Helping Hand Rescue Mission—and enjoyed a well-earned bagel breakfast together! 🥯

We are so grateful for groups like these who step forward when we need them most. Thank you for your hearts to serve and hands ready to help! Your hard work will help us provide new backpacks filled with school supplies for approximately 1,500 local children! ❤️🎒

Together, we are helping children begin the school year with confidence, dignity and their Best First Day! 🌟
