Call for volunteers today at 2pm for the Community Solidarity Hempstead Food Share. Temperatures are expected to be the coldest of the year with windchills in the -20-30 range.

Every Sunday hundreds of people wait on line to get the groceries the need. By coming and helping you can shave a little time off that wait.

Additional call for winter coats, gloves, hats, scarves, blankets & sleeping bags. There are many of our neighbors in desperate need of these items so if you have an old coat, or extra gloves you’d like to donate please bring them down.

All in need of food are welcome, and you will get a week’s supply of vegetarian groceries for free! No paperwork, no registration, no ID is required. All you got to do is come down at 3:15 and we’ll be distributing by 3:30. We offer both car & foot lines and you are welcome to come on whichever works best for you.

The Community Solidarity Hempstead Food Share will be distributing groceries tomorrow (Sun. Jan. 25th) starting at 8am at our normal Hempstead Food Share location (in the parking lot at Cooper St. North & Washington Ave). We will be conducting a rapid distribution to get everyone groceries as fast as possible so they can get home safely due to the heavy snow expected. Our Food Share will continue to distribute for as long as possible tomorrow but if you need food we highly advise you get to the Food Share by 8am, or attend our Huntington Food Share on Tuesday at 8:15pm. Please be safe out there and please share this message so those in need of food have the chance to see it and get the updated information

Closing out a year of amazing work by the volunteers at Community Solidarity. Learn how this group created the most efficient hunger relief organization in the country. So many thanks to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and Humane Long Island for providing vegan holiday roasts to hundreds of families in Farmingville last night

And our “Vegan Compassion in Action” award goes to 🥁 Community Solidarity, which provides vegan meals to thousands of community members in need!

Not only that, just ahead of the holiday season, we partnered with Lily's Vegan Pantry to donate 160 packages of vegan chicken and 100 vegan ham roasts to Community Solidarity ✨ Everyone can have a compassionate and vegan holiday celebration 🫶
