Manada Conservancy is thrilled to announce the conservation of 127 acres in the Kittatinny Ridge corridor, thanks to the generosity and commitment of the Doyle family.

This beautiful property adds another important piece to the network of protected lands along the Kittatinny Ridge, helping maintain connected habitat for wildlife, protect forests and waterways, and preserve the natural landscape of our region.

A huge thank you to the Doyle family for choosing to permanently protect their land and to everyone who helped make this conservation possible. We’re so grateful to celebrate this new addition to the Manada Conservancy family! 💚

We had such a great time this weekend exploring two Manada Conservancy properties during Walk in Penn’s Woods! 🌲🍂

Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and joined us for a day of exploring, learning, and enjoying the beautiful fall woods. We were thrilled to partner with the Dauphin County Woodland Owners Association and naturalist Ian Gardner to share these special places and learn more about the forests and wildlife that call them home.

We’re grateful to everyone who came out and made the day so much fun.

We had so much fun learning about hummingbirds! 🐦🌱

We joined Hershey Gardens for a Migratory Bird Program, where students learned how planting native plants can support Ruby-throated Hummingbirds during their migration.

The students put their new knowledge into action by making 125 packets of native pollinator garden seeds to take home and plant! 🌸

We love opportunities like this to connect kids with nature and show them how the choices we make in our own backyards can help support birds and pollinators.

We are so proud to be part of the inaugural Hike Harrisburg yesterday! 🥾🌿

As the land trust serving Dauphin County and the Capital Region, we are proud to join fellow conservation and trail organizations at the inaugural Hike Harrisburg in support of trail protection, conservation, and outdoor recreation across Pennsylvania.

In 2014, the Rohrer family donated this 77.5-acre woodland to Manada Conservancy, ensuring the property would remain protected for generations to come. Today, the Rohrer Woodlands Preserve features existing trails, historic stone spring covers, varied terrain and a healthy, productive forest.

Located along the Kittatinny Ridge and within a designated Important Mammal Area, the preserve is an important part of the larger effort to protect the mountain corridor and the wildlife, clean water, carbon storage and scenic beauty it provides.

Join Manada Conservancy and the Dauphin County Woodland Owners Association for an approximately two-mile guided walk exploring the Rohrer Woodlands Preserve and a neighboring property protected through a conservation easement. Together, these properties show two different approaches to conserving land for the long term.

🌿 A great weekend to explore nature! 🐾

Thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend for our Family Nature Walks at East Hanover Township Park and Recreation - Dauphin County, PA!

Families spent the afternoon getting outside, exploring the park, and discovering some of the plants, animals, and other natural wonders right in our own backyard. From curious questions to hands-on discoveries, it was a wonderful reminder that there is always something new to notice when we slow down and explore.

A big thank you to everyone who came out and made the afternoon so special! We hope to see you on the trail again soon. 🌳

Manada Conservancy is proud to serve on the steering committee for Dauphin County’s new 10-year Comprehensive Plan, representing the conservation nonprofit community and helping ensure that conservation has a meaningful place in conversations about the county’s future.

Just as importantly, we want our members and supporters to have a voice of their own. The County is seeking public input as it develops the plan, and we encourage you to take part and share what you value about the places and landscapes that make Dauphin County home.

One of the values of membership in Manada Conservancy is knowing that your support helps give conservation a seat at the table when decisions about our region’s future are being shaped. We’re grateful to represent a community of people who care deeply about the land, water, farms, forests, and open spaces of Dauphin County, and we hope you’ll add your voice to the conversation.
