Through a community-wide effort,
all children in the Lower Dauphin community
shall grow up to become healthy, productive adults.

Lower Dauphin Communities That Care provides programs to promote the positive development of children in the Lower Dauphin community. All of our programs were selected after a thorough review of the Lower Dauphin community's unique problems and assets. In our community, we have found that more effort needs to be directed to prevent academic failure beginning in late elementary school and in increasing students' attachment to their school. We are also targeting efforts to curb the availability of drugs and alcohol in our community and to improve family dynamics.

Junior Achievement is looking for 12 more volunteers for their YES! program at LD Middle School next Wed., Oct. 14th from 7:30 to 11:15 am. It's easy and fun. No experience necessary. Please consider volunteering a few hours for our youth!

Congratulations to our September Do The Right Thing winners! At the Lower Dauphin Middle School, 7th grader Brinley Corrigan found $20 in a classroom and turned it in to her teacher. At East Hanover Elementary, 4th grader Kinsley Kauffman took control when a friend had a medical emergency on the bus ride home. Both of these students showed responsibility, leadership and courage! Just a reminder - we LOVE when you donate to one of our donation boxes but please, please, please don’t put anything outside of the boxes! Community Aid cannot accept anything outside the boxes so it just gets thrown away. If it won't fit, please drop it off at the CommunityAid store at 4405 Lewis Rd. in Harrisburg (off Penhar exit of 322) and ask them to credit it to LD Communities That Care.

Visit our boxes at the Subway on Main St. in Hummelstown, at the LD Middle School, East Hanover Elementary, South Hanover Elementary and Conewago Elementary Schools. THANK YOU for your clothing and household donations! You're helping us to help others!

If you have a 6th or 7th grader, please take advantage of this FREE, evidence-based program at Lower Dauphin Middle School! Give us one week - if you love it, come back!

6th & 7th GRADE FAMILIES: Join us for Falcons for Families, a free seven-week program focused on strengthening family communication and building positive skills for youth and families.

The program runs Tuesdays from Sept. 29 through Nov. 10, Family dinner, activities, take-home gifts and childcare for younger children are provided.

Space is limited. Register by Sept. 22
