When our graduating classes—not just 1979 but folks from all classes—act together, we make a difference…and helping a fellow classmate—even a little bit—is a class act.

The Annual Another Shot at Deer Valley Golf Outing was started by a group of caring 1979 graduates of Hershey High School to raise funds to help defray the extraordinary medical debt held by a fellow classmate who was battling cancer. The event continues with this purpose in mind—each year benefiting someone in a similar position—who is fighting to regain their health and at the same time trying to keep ahead of the medical bills. We embrace and honor the spirit of our classmate and friend, Ken Cook, who helped establish the first ASDV Golf Outing. At the same time he himself was battling kidney cancer, Ken wanted to help ease the burden of financial worry for someone else coping with a health challenge—to allow them to focus on just getting well. We lost Ken in December 2020; however, his mission and inspiration continue on.
