Today, we honor the incredible legacy of Dolly Parton, whose generosity and love of reading have touched millions of children around the world, including thousands right here in Caldwell County.

Since 2014, through the partnership between Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and Caldwell County Smart Start, more than 360,000 free books have been mailed directly to Caldwell County children. That’s 360,000 opportunities to snuggle up for a bedtime story, discover a favorite character, learn something new, and build a lifelong love of reading.

Dolly understood that something as simple as a book in a child’s hands can open a whole world of possibilities. We are incredibly proud to have been part of bringing her vision to the children and families of Caldwell County for more than a decade.

Her impact can be found on bookshelves and in homes throughout our community, and in the countless memories made between children and the people who read with them.

Thank you, Dolly, for dreaming big for our littlest readers. Your legacy will live on with every book opened, every story shared, and every child who discovers the magic of reading. 🦋📚❤️
