Safe Kids Caldwell County

Safe Kids Caldwell County Throughout the world, almost 1 million children die of injuries each year. For all Granite Fire Dept inquires, please contact the station at 396-2379.

Safe Kids Worldwide is a global organization dedicated to protecting kids from unintentional injuries, the number one cause of death to children in the United States. When we talk about preventing injuries, we’re not talking about skinned knees, bruised shins and scraped elbows. Those are the telltale signs of a curious child, exploring the world, pushing limits and seeking adventure. But there ar

e things we can all do to ensure that those bumps and bruises don’t turn into more disabling injuries and deaths. In Caldwell County, as a coalition, we work on child passenger safety, poison prevention, bicycle safety, plus many others to reduce childhood injury. We have two permanent checking stations, one at Caldwell County Health and Human Services, the other at Granite Fire Dept. At the Health and Human Services Dept- Please call Kristy (426-8506) to schedule an appointment to get your carseat checked. For more information about Caldwell County Safe Kids or how to get involved, please call 426-8506. Caldwell County Safe Kids Board

DYK: Nearly 7 out of 10 caregivers are forgetting a very important step when installing their forward-facing car seats – the tether! A tether is important for all forward-facing car seat installations. It reduces forward motion in a crash and helps protect a child’s head, neck and spine. • Use the back burners of your stove and turn pot handles away from the edge.
• Check to make sure appliance cords are coiled and away from counter edges.
• Take a minute to test your smoke alarms.
