We've watched the pattern: desperation masquerading as efficiency. A returning citizen takes the first job, the first place, the first relationship-because survival instinct says move fast. Six months later, they're back.

But what we've learned is counterintuitive. The slowdown isn't a luxury-it's the accelerator. When we teach disciples to ground decisions in Scripture, counsel, and genuine discernment instead of panic, something shifts. They're not asking 'Will this keep me off the streets?' anymore. They're asking 'Does this align with who I'm becoming?'

That question changes everything.

Ten days until the gala you are not invited to attend.

We mean that warmly.

On Thursday, October 8, CrossWalk Center is hosting the No Show Gala, The Empty Chair. There is no ballroom. No tickets. No babysitter to find. No outfit to choose. Nothing required to attend.

Here is what there is instead.

A chair at a table in Houston, sitting empty, waiting for somebody who has not arrived yet. They are still inside. They have a release date. And before they get here, somebody has to buy the groceries, pay the light bill, and set that place.

That somebody could be you. 🪑
