Yesterday, Leadership Houston Class XLIV celebrated the ribbon cutting for our class project on the Columbia Tap Trail.

This project focused on practical improvements to a historic Houston trail, including beautification, natural seating, refreshed bollards, reflective safety enhancements, and upcoming public art honoring Third Ward, the Columbia Tap Trail, and the City of Houston.

A special thank you to the artists bringing the mural work to life:

Pinklomein — Columbia Tap Trail History
Drea the Artist / Andrea Venson — Third Ward History
Donkeeboy Art — Houston History

It was a meaningful way to close out our Leadership Houston experience: working alongside community partners to contribute to a public space that serves residents, visitors, and the broader city.

Thank you to our Class XLIV, the Leadership Houston community and supporters, Third Ward leaders, Friends of Columbia Tap, Greater Southeast Management District, Project Row Houses, our artists, and everyone who helped bring this project forward.

☕️ What a wonderful morning at our FINAL 2026 Leadership Houston Community Coffee!

A huge thank you to Houston Community Land Trust and Dr. Ashley Allen, Class XLI for sponsoring and hosting this event.

We’d also like to thank our Leadership Houston Board and our awesome alumni for supporting these community engagement events throughout the year. Your commitment helps bring people together in such meaningful ways.

We had an amazing turnout and loved seeing everyone connect, collaborate, and caffeinate together! 🤝☕️

These are all the photos I captured, but we know there are more great pictures out there: please share yours here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/8Dwm7z5PJGXTGq2K7

☕ Alumni Community Coffee is coming to a new kind of space this May!

This month, we’re doing things a little differently. Instead of meeting at a coffee shop, one of our very own alumni is opening the doors to her new workspace and inviting fellow alumni to gather, connect, and start the day together.

Join us on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 8:00–10:00 AM at Houston Community Land Trust, hosted by Dr. Ashley Allen, Class XLI.

This is more than coffee. It’s a chance to reconnect with fellow Leadership Houston alumni, support an alumna in her new space, and help us imagine what alumni engagement can look like in the year ahead.

Whether you’ve been highly involved or haven’t connected in a while, this is a great place to start.

Come by to:

✨ Meet and reconnect with other alumni
✨ Support an alumna in her new workspace
✨ Learn about 2026–2027 volunteer opportunities
✨ Share how you’d like to stay connected
✨ Explore the idea of hosting a future alumni gathering at your workplace, business, or community space

We’d love to see more alumni-led moments like this — casual, meaningful, and rooted in connection.

What a meaningful day for Leadership Houston Class XLIV.

Today’s Creative Economy Learning Session was a powerful reminder that leadership is built through relationships, service, listening, and collaboration.

On behalf of Class XLIV, thank you to Leadership Houston for creating spaces where leaders across sectors can learn, connect, and better understand the people and organizations helping move Houston forward.

We are grateful to the planning committee, nonprofit partners, donors, sponsors, speakers, hosts, and community leaders who helped make today so thoughtful and impactful. Experiences like this take real work, care, generosity, and coordination behind the scenes.

A special thank you to our venue in-kind sponsors: Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, Wortham Center for the Performing Arts, The Ensemble Theatre, and METRORail.

We are also grateful to our food in-kind donors: Montrose Cheese & Wine, Goodnight Hospitality, and Honeychild’s.

Special appreciation to Albert Lyne, Board Member, Class XLI, as well as Sean Cowan, Class XLIII, and Kathleen Morgan for their support.

Class XLIV is grateful for the opportunity to continue learning, building relationships, and exploring how we can each contribute to Houston’s future.

We started the day with a grateful heart.
Leadership Houston's Class XLIV has endeavored one of the most meaningful parts of their own personal leadership journeys, and it is always special to connect with people who care deeply about this city and its future.

We are extending a huge thank you to the planning committee (Macy Bodenhamer, Class XXVII; Sean Cowan, Class XLIII; Dan Joyce, Class XLIII; Holli Clements, Class XLIII), nonprofit partners, donors, sponsors, and community leaders who help make these moments possible. So much thoughtful work happens behind the scenes to create spaces where leaders can learn, connect, and grow.

Houston is stronger because of people and organizations willing to invest in civic leadership, collaboration, and service. Looking forward to the rest of a powerful day of learning and connection!
