Join us TODAY for our June Clay Conversations!
This month we have artists Michael and Gaye Lynn who will speak about their journey as ceramic artists and the Texas Clay Fest — its origin, their personal involvement over the years, how it has shaped their work, and what to expect in 2026.
The first hour will act as a casual happy hour, followed by a second hour of a loosely structured discussion with Michael and Gaye Lynn, open to questions.
Bring a friend, make a new friend, grab a drink and join US!

Michael and Gaye Lynn graduated from Texas A&M University in 1978 ; in 1981 they established a studio, east of Austin, Texas. Since then, they have furthered their education through workshops, the daily practice of work in clay, and the wisdom of the generous clay community. In 1985 built out their first wood fired kiln. The effects that are achieved in wood firing continue to influence their glaze choices and surface treatments.
 
After 40 years in clay, they find that the things that fuel their enthusiasm for the craft today are the same things that drew them to pottery in the first place: their love of function and form, passion for the process of making pots, and the joy they find in using hand made pottery.

Texas Tributaries is a juried regional show, bringing together ceramic artists from Texas and neighboring states to explore the connections that shape our creative communities.
How are we connected by clay? How do we create community across distances? And how do these relationships nourish creative soil?
Inspired by Houston’s waterways and the tributaries that carry people, ideas, and resources across the region, this exhibition examines the unique bonds shared by artists throughout Texas and beyond.

ClayHouston is excited to announce that submissions are now open for Bayou Mud, our 2026 Annual Members’ Show!
Just as clay is formed through the slow accumulation of earth and water, Houston itself is shaped by the bayous and waterways that connect our city. Bayou Mud celebrates those connections through a diverse showcase of ceramic artwork created by ClayHouston members across the Greater Houston area.
From functional pottery to sculptural works, this non-juried exhibition reflects the creativity, skill, and unique voices of our ceramic community.
Call Opens: June 5, 2026

Susan Budge (b. 1959) is an American sculptor working in clay and bronze with influences from Biomorphism and Surrealism. Budge holds a BFA from Texas Tech University, MA from University of Houston Clear Lake, MFA from University of Texas at San Antonio.

Budge’s work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian, the Honolulu Museum of Art, the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, the Fuller Craft Museum, the San Antonio Museum of Art, the San Angelo Museum of Art, the Art Museum at Northern Arizona State University, the Art Museum of South Texas, the New Orleans Museum of Art. Her work has been in hundreds of exhibitions and is in private collections in the United Kingdom, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Greece, the United States, and Mexico.
