Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 through October 15, Sister Cities of Houston proudly celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and the generations of Hispanic and Latino leaders, families, artists, entrepreneurs, and community builders whose cultures and traditions have helped shape Houston.

As one of the most diverse and international cities in the nation, Houston’s strength comes from the people and cultures that call our city home. Through our Sister City relationships, including our connections with Guayaquil, Ecuador; Huelva, Spain; and Tampico, Mexico, we continue to build bridges that bring our communities and countries closer together.

Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate history and culture while recognizing the importance of friendship, understanding, and people-to-people connections across borders.

At Sister Cities of Houston, that is at the heart of our mission: connecting Houston to the world through citizen diplomacy.

¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana!

May this Rosh Hashanah bring joy, love, and blessings to your life! Shana Tovah!

09/11/2026

Today, Sister Cities of Houston joins our nation in remembering September 11, 2001.

We honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the courage of the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless families whose lives were forever changed.

September 11 reminds us of the strength found in unity, compassion, service, and standing together in the face of tragedy.

As an organization dedicated to building bridges between people, cultures, and communities around the world, we believe remembrance also carries a responsibility—to continue fostering understanding, friendship, and peace across borders.

We remember. We honor. We stand united. 🇺🇸
